Homebrew Aviari Species Details
A race of winged beings whose wings are part of their arms and hands. Rumors have it, their progenitor was a Winged God of Fertility. Others say they suddenly appeared from a rift in the sky, making them angels. No one truly knows. They are formidable beings, that's for sure! Skillful and elegant, their legs and talons act more like a human's arms and hands than their own winged arms.
Creating Your Character
Ability Score Increases
When determining your character’s ability scores, increase one score by 2 and increase a different score by 1, or increase three different scores by 1. Follow this rule regardless of the method you use to determine the scores, such as rolling or point buy. The “Quick Build” section for your character’s class offers suggestions on which scores to increase. You can follow those suggestions or ignore them, but you can’t raise any of your scores above 20.
Languages
Your character can speak, read, and write Common and one other language that you and your DM agree is appropriate for the character.

Aviari Traits
As an Aviari, you have the following racial traits.Creature Type
You are a Humanoid.
Size

Speed
Your walking speed is 30 feet.
Flight
Because of your wings, you have a flying speed equal to your walking speed. You can’t use this flying speed if you’re wearing heavy armor.
Additionally, because of the mighty wings on your arms and hands, you cannot wield any weapon with the two-handed property at all. Neither on your arms and legs.
Talons
You have talons at your feet that you can use to make unarmed strikes. When you hit with them, the strike deals 1d6 + your Strength modifier slashing or piercing damage, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
You can hold shields and one-handed weapons with your skilled talons.
Avian Gust
Starting at 5th level, you can cast the Wind Wall spell with this trait, without requiring a material component. Once you cast the spell with this trait, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest. You can also cast the spell using any spell slots you have of 3rd level or higher.
Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for it when you cast Wind Wall with this trait (choose when you select this race).
Fierce Feathers
Your thick feathers grant resistance to cold damage. But they are very sensitive to fire. You have disadvantage on any saves made to avoid fire damage.
Hunter's Eyes
You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight. In conditions of clear visibility, you can take an action to focus your eyes and make out details of even extremely distant creatures and objects as small as 2 feet across up to 1 mile away.
