Homebrew Beastial Wendigo Species Details

Wendigos are cursed humanoids who have committed cannibalism. More fiend than human and driven into an endless hunger, these monstrous beings wander the wilderness looking for flesh to consume. Many Wendigos are aimless beings that simply look for their next meal, while others become servants of fiends and dark gods.

Wendigos may remember their names from before they were transformed, but they are also likely to forget significant amounts of their past, possibly including their name. If this happens, they are likely to be given a name by the people that find it.

Those that are forced to commit cannibalism in order to survive are likely to receive this scorn. These wendigos take on a beastial form, turning into a creature that looks like a hybrid of a human and a deer. This transformation varies in intensity. While some will simply grow the legs and antlers of a deer in an manner similar to a satyr, others are known to become sickly looking abominations with a deer skull for a head.

Beastial Wendigo Traits

A mix between man and monster, Wendigos have many inherent strengths you can take advantage, as well as weaknesses you must be weary of.

Ability Score Increase

Your Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution increase by 1.

Age

Wendigos cannot die from old age and have been known to be around for thousands of years.

Size

Wendigos are both taller and thinner than most creatures, standing between 7 and 10 feet tall and averaging 200 pounds. Your size is Large

Speed

Your base walking speed is 35 feet, and you also have a climbing speed of 35 feet.

Apex Hunter

You guard your hunting grounds viciously, and you know every inch and creature within them. When in terrain similar to that of your hunting grounds, you have advantage on wisdom and intelligence checks.

Mimicry

Your curse enables you to mimic any sound you've heard in the previous 6 hours, including human speech. You know the minor illusion cantrip.

Feral Predator

As a creature of the wild, your claws and fangs have acted as your best weapons to take down your prey. When an enemy enters melee, you can choose to use your claws against them, causing 1d6 plus your strength modifier slashing damage. You may also bite them, causing 1d8 plus your dexterity modifier piercing damage.

Keen Sense

Your senses are finely tuned, able to pick up on the crunch of a leaf hundreds of feet away. You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) rolls that utilize your hearing

Superior Darkvision

Your darkvision has a radius of 120 feet

Strict Carnivore

Your curse allows you to consume raw or rotten meat without any negative effects. In addition, you are immune to non-magical diseases.Your hunger cannot be satisfied by fruits and vegetables. Any attempt to consume food that is not meat requires a DC10 constitution saving throw. If failed, you become poisoned for 1 hour. 

Menacing

You are proficient with the intimidation skill due to your menacing nature.

Shadow Beast

You are proficient in the stealth skill due to being an expert hunter.

Insatiable Hunger

You must feast on flesh once a day. Failing to do so will prevent you from completing a long rest. Subsequent days of failing to consume meat will temporarily reduce your maximum hitpoints by 1d6 everyday.
