Homebrew Children of the Light Species Details

Born from the stars, destined to a cycle of collecting light and saving others and then being saved, only to collect more light to save more people... such is the life of a child of the light, or skykid.

Skykids, reborn from light and destroyed by darkness, have short, children-esque frames and usually adorn a mask and cape. The cape is created from the collected light of the skykid, however it counts as nonmagical. Some skykids may forgo a mask, exposing their dark gray face. All skykids originate from one plane, making them very rare in others.

 

Children of the Light Traits

Skykids have the following traits:

Ability Score Increase

Your wisdom and one other score of your choice increases by one.

Size

You are small.

Cape Flying

You have 5 charges, which manifest in the form of stars on the back of your cape. As a bonus action, you may expend up to 2 charges and fly 15 feet (4.57 m) per charge into the air. However, you will gradually float down to the ground at a speed of 10 feet per round/6 seconds. To gain 1 charge back, you must stay within 5 feet of a light source for 30 seconds. 

Begone Darkness

Starting at 3rd level, you may cast Moonbeam once per short rest.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Friendship

Other Children of the Light count as a light source to you as long as you are allied.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and one extra language of your choice.
