Homebrew Aligrine Species Details

A flighty, guarded people living in the eastern mountains, the aligrine are distant relatives of aarakocra, as weird and yet obvious as that might be. Some appear human-like, while others share the more bird-like traits of their cousins. The gene pool is diverse, but all aligrine share one quality: the large pair of feathered wings on their backs, positioned above the scapula. 

While aligrine come in all shapes and sizes, they tend to be lithe with hollow bones, much like birds. Their hair and eyes emulate soft, natural hues, while their feathers can be variable. Some bear feathers of the same color as their hair and eyes, but others have wings resembling those of different creatures depending upon one's heritage. 

They tend to be nomadic and impermanent, favoring freedom over the power and security of large settlements. They generally form temporary or at least smaller settlement in trees, mountains, or other places far from larger society.

Aligrine mature much slower than other races. They mature at 30 years old and the oldest of the aligrine can reach 400 years old.

Aligrine are similar in build to humans, although they tend to be taller and weigh slightly less. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Wings

Although your wings are weaker than those of your ancestors, you can still maintain modest flight. You have a fly speed of 30 feet. You cannot use this fly speed while wearing heavy armor, nor while you are encumbered.

Keen Senses

You have keen senses, much like a bird. You have proficiency in the Perception skill.

Languages

You can read, write, and speak both Auran and Common.
