Homebrew Annwfyn Species Details

The wonder of the Feywild in its volatile nature will on occasion cause some accident of birth, creating mysterious and powerful beings filled with magical fey potential; either with readily apparent variation to the physical traits of the humanoid parents, or without any indication that the offspring is any different than their ancestors.

Whether born of the fiery passions of humanoids taken by the unearthly beauty of naiads and alseids; of the merriment of satyrs who welcome visitors to the feywild into their debauchery; or to less-suspecting parents who unwittingly meet where the material plane touches the feywild; the annwfyn (anu-VIN) are fey creatures who defy classification into any singular race. They may have the horns and hooves of satyrs, the pointed ears of elves, or any number of features commonly associated with fey beings - or none at all.

Annwfyn, as different as they are one from another, are all infused with the magic of the Feywild. This magic grants the annwfyn a glimpse into the power experienced by fey lords and archfey in the form of Magic Resistance, as well as other features depending on the type of fey the annwfyn are descended from.

Annwfyn Traits

Annwfyn creatures have a few latent fey characteristics thanks to their extra-planar heritage.

Creature Type

You are a Fey.

Magic Resistance

You have advantage on saving throws against spells.

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 ft. of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light, only discerning colors in that darkness as shades of gray.

Shape Gloom

You know the minor illusion cantrip. Starting at 3rd level, you can cast the invisibility spell once with this trait, and you regain the ability to cast it when you finish a long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

Ability Score Increase

Your Charisma score increases by 2, and one other score increases by 1.

Age

Annwfyn live well over a century. For some, their slower rate of aging may bet their first and only clue to their fey heritage.

Size

You are Medium or Small. You choose the size when you select this race.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and one extra language of your choice. Some annwfyn may not learn of their heritage until later in life if at all, but those who are aware of it may choose to learn Sylvan as a way to connect with that aspect of themselves.
