Homebrew Apisari (Beefolk) Species Details

Society and Culture
This race of humanoid bees are said to all be the children of a single Queen, a colossal queen bee with immense power. The Apisari build intricate hive cities located within hollowed-out mountains, deep in ancient forests, or underground. Each hive has a queen who is protected by and provides for her children. Apisari often build their hives near natural wonders, which they hold sacred. These Beefolk view themselves as the stewards of these wonders, protecting the fragile balance of nature to keep their home in pristine condition.

APPEARANCE
Standing between 2-7 feet tall, the Apisari have sturdy chitinous bodies, two sets of arms and a set of clear wings. Their bodies are a random assortment of black and yellow of all shades and patterns, while many appear similar, they are all unique.

APISARI NAMES
The Apisari do not have proper names. Amongst their hive-mates they all identify each other through unique pheromone signals which do not translate to any language. It is up to the Apisari to choose their own name if they wish when they venture out into the world.

ALIGNMENT An Apisari is almost always of a Lawful Neutral alignment, abiding by the laws of the hive above all else.

Apisari (Beefolk) Traits

Your Apisari character has the following racial traits.

Ability Score Increase

Increase one ability score by 2 and increase a different one by 1, or increase three different scores by 1.

Chitinous Carapace

While you aren’t wearing armor, your carapace gives you a base Armor Class of 13 + your Dexterity modifier.

Secondary Arms

You have two slightly smaller secondary arms below your primary pair of arms. The secondary arms can manipulate an object, open or close a door or container, pick up or set down a Tiny object, or wield a weapon that has the light property.

Flight

Because of your wings, you have a flying speed equal to your walking speed. You can’t use this flying speed if you’re wearing medium or heavy armor.

Stinger

You have a stinger that you can use to make unarmed strikes. When you hit, the strike deals 1d6 + your Strength modifier slashing damage, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.

Hivemind

Apisari do not possess vocal cords and cannot properly speak other humanoid languages. Instead, you use telepathy to convey your thoughts. You have the ability to telepathically project your thoughts mentally to willing creatures you can see within 120 feet of yourself. You do not need to share a language with the creature to understand your thoughts, but it must be able to understand at least one language. Your telepathic link to a creature lasts 1 minute or until the creature moves more than 120 feet away from you, you are incapacitated, or either of you mentally breaks the connection, no action required.

Sleepless

You do not require sleep and can choose to remain conscious during a long rest, though you must still refrain from strenuous activity to gain the benefit of the rest.

Creature Type

You are a Monstrosity.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30ft.

Languages

You can understand, read and write Common and one other language that you and your DM agree is appropriate for the character.

Size

You are Medium or Small. You choose the size when you select this race.
