Homebrew Demon Species Details
I may resort to killing, and I may be cruel about it, showing no mercy. But I do know that I have a lot to gain and too much to lose, so for now, I will hold back, until you make the first move, not all of us are unreasonalble.
—Aser Elamin
For the most part, demons get lots of hatred for their destructive behavior. They get glares and threatened. Though adventure is rare, demons often alter themselves long enough to get what they are wanting and get out. Some use their intimidating nature to put people back into there place, usually ends in violence and someone getting killed. There is a reason demons go out. It could be because they have something to prove, more power, or the material plane can provide them information that they could not get living in the abyss. They mostly try to hide their emotion since they think most of their emotion is a sickness and treated as such, though some are wanting to understand more and leave the abyss. Demons can be very curious about things they have never seen or known.
Born in the Abyss
The Aybss is dangerous, dark, and cold, or it could be bright and scorching, it is infinite, making anything possible. Not many demons have children because of the dangers that are present. If they do, the child must be protected heavily, but often it fails and depending on the heartbreak, the demon may go out and snatch a child from the material or abyssal plane, trying once more to raise a child of their own, looking out for children of great distress. The more powerful a demon is, the more comfortable they can care for their young, but they still rarely have children since the higher-ups usually don't die from age and can return from the dead after an extended amount of time if a specific ritual was not done to keep them from coming back. Being raised as a demon of low power means survival, kill before you are killed, always be on the run, or live under the protection of your parent, never leaving eyesight. Few weaker demons would have their child raised in the material plane, up until a certain age where they could protect themselves; they are either raising themselves or raised by kind-hearted and accepting people.
Demon Psychology
Demons don't understand their own emotions or how to handle them, so they tend to react to their feelings with torment and violence. Anger is the worse one and sends a demon into a rampage. They act to defend themselves and only think of themselves; after all, they don't understand empathy, sympathy, or emotions. Though children that end up being raised by kind-hearted people learn from them much easier than most children when either left untrained or spoiled they resemble that of a psychopath or a sociopath and does not react well to negative reinforcement, this is of those that get raised in a family with morals. Demons that are raised by a family within the abyss have poor behaviors and if not raised in nobility have a much more happy kill trigger. Sometimes demons learn from losses; The loss of someone important, such as a spouse, child or close friend causes them to think more about their emotions, this often leads to an adventure to the material plane, because the material plane offers more of what they are looking for than what the abyss could give them. Doing this kind of adventure could cause the demon to have a complete change of heart or gain more hatred towards the inhabitants of the material plane.
The good apple out of the rotten
Not all demons are evil, few are kind-hearted mostly due to trauma from the death of someone close to them and finding peace with their inner turmoil, or because they were raised to be that way. Often the good ones are the scarier to anger than the ones that go out on a killing spree. These demons try their best to prove themselves and go to great lengths to gain relationships.
