Homebrew Assemblage Species Details

The Assemblage are unique beings, born from a wandering, disembodied soul that collects inanimate objects to form a makeshift body. These souls may come from ancient spirits, lost in time, or from powerful beings who were unable to pass on to the afterlife. To survive and interact with the physical world, the soul gathers objects around it—anything from stones, wood, metal, bones, or even glass—to create a functional form. No two Assemblage look the same, as their bodies reflect the materials available to them.

The Assemblage have the following traits

Assemblage alignments are varied, depending on the nature of the soul that drives them. Some are lawful and seek order, while others, particularly those made from chaotic or destructive materials, may be more unpredictable.

Assemblage bodies range in size based on the objects they gather. Most are Medium.

Constructed Form

You have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned, and you have resistance to poison damage. You do not need to eat, drink, or breathe.

Modular Body

You can swap out parts of your body, replacing them with new objects you find. As a bonus action, you can integrate a new object into your form, granting you unique abilities based on the material (up to DM discretion). For example:

  • Stone Armor: +1 AC for 1 hour if you add a large stone or chunk of metal.
  • Sharp Appendage: Gain a natural melee attack (1d6 slashing) if you attach sharp objects, like shards of glass or metal that increases in damage by 1d6 slashing (or bludgeoning) the bigger the item is (Your Strength score multiplied by 15) For example:
  • 4-8 Strength: 1d6
  • 12-16 Strength: 2d6
  • 20-24 Strength: 3d6

Soul Anchor

Your consciousness is tied to a core object within your body (your soul anchor). If you are reduced to 0 hit points, you can choose to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 10 + damage taken). On a success, your body crumbles, but your soul anchor remains intact, allowing you to reassemble a new body over the course of a long rest if you have access to materials.

You can disguise yourself as a collection of ordinary objects by remaining perfectly still. Creatures must make an Intelligence (Investigation) check against your Charisma (Deception) check to check if your a living being.
