Homebrew Aurastor Species Details
One of the main races of the Naikru Civilization world. It is a wooden race with a bear-like form, having a golem core on its chest, and plants on its back, allowing it to procure energy through an omnivorous diet and through absorbing sunlight. The Aurastors are one of the race lead by the wisdom of a Twilight Traveler, as it became a territorial species, capable of coordinating and taking necessary actions based on what the colony requires.
Aurastor Traits
The Aurastors are designed to be an effective defender for their territory, lacking in need to move around and can fortify itself to the nature.Lightspeak
You can emit a small ray of light that extends up to 1 mile long in a straight line. This light contains any stored information you send, which can be understood by other Aurastors who make contact with the light. It is possible to send Morse codes this way.
Root/Uproot
You can root yourself into any dirt, mud, or sandy terrain as a bonus action. While rooted, you can't move or be moved by creatures or objects of your size or smaller; You also gain 1d10 temporary hit points at the start of your turn. Your root ends when you use your bonus action to end it or when you are moved in any way (including teleport).
Naturally Inclined
You have proficiency in Nature skill. You are also vulnerable to fire damage.
Aurastor Specialization
When you reach level 10, your body changes to one of many specialized forms. Its effects apply while you are rooted:
- Sentry: You gain +5 to your Passive Perception and +1 AC.
- Protector: Once per turn, you can redirect slashing, piercing, or bludgeoning damage a creature within 5 feet of you takes and receive it yourself.
- Cavalier: When you use the Root/Uproot ability, you create a Shambling Mound (MM) that you are considered rooted and mounted to instead of the ground. The creature cannot take any actions and moves on your turn, which does not end your root; If your root ends, the creature disappears to the ground. When the Shambling Mound drops to 0 or dies, you lose hit points equal to its maximum hit points.
- Skycounter: You can cast Sunbeam by expending 60 hit points. Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for this spell when you cast them with this trait (choose when you select this specialization).
Creature Type
You are a Fey. You are also considered a Plant for any effects that requires you to be a Plant.
Speed
Your walking speed is 20 feet, and you gain an additional 10 feet walking speed if you are large or larger.
Languages
You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language you and your DM agree is appropriate for your character.
