Homebrew Worldwalker Species Details
Worldwalkers are simultaneously of this world and another. They are both born and created, incidents occur where a human child slips through the veil between worlds and returns changed, though more commonly they are born to human parents. Some believe that they replace the original child, where others believe it's a mutation of some kind. Many Worldwalkers, unable to fit into society proper, choose lives of solitary wandering or join with other misfits and outcasts in the adventuring life.
Human at core
To any race, Worldwalkers pass for human by all means, though natural humans often notice the strangeness of them. In height, they’re mostly on par with humans, though they are often more long limbed than a typical human causing them to appear taller. They range from under 5 feet to about 6 feet tall, rarely but still possible reaching 7 foot tall, and from 100 to 180 pounds, with men only slightly taller and heavier than women. Worldwalker men can grow facial hair, but it is not as thick as a male humans, sometimes growing beards to attempt to mask their uniqueness but often failing. Worldwalkers have any naturally occurring human skin tone, though tend to be just slightly paler. They tend to have strange, distant looks in their eyes and have been known to be born with more than the typical two eyes.
Misplaced
Worldwalkers typically live in human towns and cities, though it is not uncommon for them to be rejected from their homes once the parents realise what they are. Most humans perpetuate rumours about Worldwalkers leading to a general mistrust in them.
Worldwalkers are uncommon enough that one may go half their lifetime before even seeing another of their kind. Though most prefer to be lone wanderers, away from the people whose lives they could have had, there are people who use them as a freakshow of sorts, many cases of Worldwalkers being trafficked and held on display have been documented due to their anomalous nature.
Worldwalker Names
Worldwalkers will often, if not always have human names from birth, though some renounce their names as an act of removing themselves from the lives they once had, opting instead to go unnamed.
Possible Variants
There have been documented cases of members of other species giving birth to Worldwalker children, such as goblins and orcs, though it is incredibly rare.
