Homebrew Walking Fungus Species Details

The Walking Fungus was originally created by a druidic experiment gone wrong. A clan of druids were experimenting with mushrooms. One casted shapechange, and it produced spores before it became fully human. The spores then floated through the air over to a soon-to-be-buried corpse. The corpse was observed transforming into a Walking Fungus within 48 hours.

The Walking Fungus first starts as a spore infecting a human body. Over time, the body gets turned into a mold, which gets replaced by thick moss and mushrooms. The main organs of the body, such as the stomach, liver, and intestines are replaced with a stomach filled with mushrooms that will digest anything edible. The main neural structure is somewhat intact, although with mycelium webbed into it. The bones are intact, with mycelium muscles to control the movement. Depending on other nearby dead animals, the creature may gain antlers or horns.
