Bloodfire Drak’thal (5e Race)
The Bloodfire Drak’thal are a race born of Half-Orc and Tiefling ancestry, with the rare potential for draconic traits. Often referred to as "Bloodreavers" by outsiders, they come from a wasteland island dominated by a world-ending volcano. Their heritage reflects the destructive powers of demons, orcs, and dragons, shaping their volatile nature.

Bloodfire Drak’thal Traits

Ability Score Increase. You can choose either:

Increase one ability score by 2 and another by 1, or
Increase three different ability scores by 1.
Age. Bloodfire Drak'thal mature similarly to humans but live longer, typically up to 150 years.

Alignment. Most Bloodfire Drak’thal tend toward chaotic alignments, but their morals can vary.

Size. Bloodfire Drak'thal are typically between 5 and 7 feet tall. Your size is Medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common, Infernal, and Orc.

Drak'thal Racial Traits:
Devil's Sight. You can see normally in darkness, both magical and nonmagical, to a distance of 120 feet.

Menacing. You gain proficiency in the Intimidation skill.

Relentless Endurance. When reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead. You can’t use this feature again until you finish a long rest.

Hellish Resistance. You have resistance to fire damage.

Draconic Bloodline (10% Chance). There is a 10% chance that the dormant draconic bloodline within you awakens. If so, the following trait applies in addition to your other racial traits:

Draconic Resilience. As magic flows through your body, it causes physical traits of your dragon ancestors to emerge. At 1st level, your hit point maximum increases by 1 and increases by 1 again whenever you gain a level. You have inherited the physical fortitude of dragons. When you aren’t wearing armor, your AC equals 13 + your Dexterity modifier. Additionally, scales cover parts of your upper body and/or tail, appearing as the color of one chromatic (black, blue, green, red, white) or metallic (brass, bronze, copper, gold, silver) dragon.
Physical Appearance. Bloodfire Drak’thal have half-orc-shaped heads, with mouths that feature the tusks or sharp teeth that orcs are known for. They also typically have small horns, up to six inches long, on their foreheads. Their skin is split between orcish and demonic colors, with a Tiefling tail being a common trait. If the draconic blood manifests, scales appear on their upper bodies and tails, taking on the color of a specific type of dragon.

Names. Bloodfire Drak’thal names are powerful and aggressive, reflecting their fiery temperaments and volcanic origins. Their names often mix orcish and infernal syllables, resulting in harsh, commanding tones.

Subraces. None. Draconic traits manifest as a rare mutation rather than a consistent subrace among the Bloodfire Drak’thal.
