Homebrew Bloodwing Dragon Species Details

A bloodwing dragon is something I made up. These dragons burn in the sunlight, and are rumored to drink blood. They live in deep caverns on a beach somewhere between the ice kingdom and the sky kingdom. They are a tribe of dragon never seen above ground, and almost no one even knows they exist. Those who survive a bite from a bloodwing dragon are not really survivors at all. Instead, they turn into a bloodwing dragon. This transformation takes about a week, though. It is rumored that a bite from a bloodwing dragon also effects scavengers. From a human's point of view, a human bit by a bloodwing dragon turns into a vampire. Dragons call humans scavengers, and they call vampires Bloodeaters. Believe it or not, dragons do not eat vampires. It is rumored that eating a Bloodeater will turn you into a Bloodwing. Bloodwing dragons are rare, and are almost always a regular dragon that got bit by a Bloodwing and turned into one, but sometimes there are dragons who are born as bloodwings. Bloodwings are usually a red so dark it looks black, and have reddish purple eyes. Their bones are black, and their teeth are naturally black, but are often stained with blood. Bloodwing dragons are rumored to be Nightwings that got cursed by some Animus dragon from long ago. They even hate icewings just like Nightwings do. They generally go after icewings, which is why their black teeth are often stained blue from icewing blood, rather than the blood of another dragon tribe. Bloodwings can bleed, but their scales are even more unbreakable than regular dragons' scales. A bloodwing's blood is a dark purple.

Vampire Dragon

Blood Thirst

All bloodwing dragons drink blood. Once per week, you must find a living thing and drink it's blood. If you don't, you will turn into ash.

Sunlight Burn

Bloodwing dragons burn in sunlight.If you spend 3 or more rounds in sunlight, you will take 1d6 fire damage each round until you either die or move somewhere with shade. 

Superior Dark Vision

Bloodwing dragons can see in the dark. You can see in dim light as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You cannot see color in darkness; only shades of gray. This has a range of 120 feet.
