Homebrew Zyrafa Species Details
Little is known or remembered about the creation of zyrafa, but it would appear they simply evolved by natural means on the Dry Steppes of the Flanaess. Hunted to near extinction by predators and poachers, the remaining few zyrafa turned their prayers to Obad-Hai. An ancient god with deep ties to the beasts of the land, Obad-Hai bestowed upon them abilities which turned the tide in their fight for survival. Though zyrafa are typically long-limbed and awkward, they were gifted with the agility to evade their foes, as well as the resilience to survive their environment and, most importantly, a potent defence in the form of a poisonous tongue.
Zyrafa bear a strong resemblance to tall creatures seen on the Dry Steppes. They are typically long and slender with yellow, spotted skin. Besides their lengthy necks, the features of a zyrafa are somewhat bovine, with protruding ears, an elongated muzzle and two hairy horns atop their heads. Despite reaching full maturity just a few years after their birth, the average zyrafa will never leave their herd, instead opting to remain in the safety and security of their reclusive communities. On very rare occasions, one may venture out from beneath the gaze of Obad-Hai to seek adventure in the wider world.
