Perhaps you lived inside a Wizard's tower and the residual magic granted you sentience. Maybe you were present during the death of someone whose soul was not ready to leave the material plane. Or possibly you were a human cursed by a Warlock in a battle, forced to permanently walk the land as a furry beast. Whether you were a plain rat originally, intelligent race transformed into a rodent, or some other means entirely, your new existence is that of thinking, speaking, magically imbued Weasel.
