Homebrew Aragami Species Details

 

Stories about a People known as the Aragami began spreading when a Grey skinned people began appearing around cities and towns offering work for pay, no job was too menial, no work to dirty.

 

An Isolated People Aragami Are driven by their Curiosity and Creativity. Their bodies being almost completely featureless besides their Genders leaves a lot of room for confusion. In the early years of their existence the Aragami began the Tradition of Porcelain masks. Customised Masks that replicate and convey the wearers personality. 

Like most races they grow and style their hair, to add even more detail to their otherwise plain and undetailed appearance. The live in Isolated Villages and Clans on the outskirts of Civilisations.

A Broad Spectrum

With such a varying sense of being, Aragami have wildly different personalities, the only consistency being their Loyalty to their people. Every Aragami is taught from birth that their People are their family. Not just their Clans but any and all Aragami are Family.

Variety in All Things

With such a unique outlook on their lives Aragami are frequently Changing their Looks and styles, Its very rare to see an Aragami with the same style of clothing several months in a row. The only consistency In their looks are their masks. Carved and designed at the age of Maturity The Mask is a symbol of who they are.

Life and Death

Being born of Shadows Aragami do not age the same as most races. Rather than grow old and weak Aragami remain the same from maturity at the age of 20, until their deaths at an average of just over a century old. 

Instead Aragami suffer Mental Decay. Their minds begin to break and their memories fade until they are but hollow shells. Upon the start of Mental decay, The Clan and its people will prepare a ceremony in which the Aragami will hand their mask to the Clan or Village Elder, will walk a Path of candles and plunge themselves off a cliff, or into a deep black pit. A ritualistic suicide in order to prevent further Mental Decay. An Aragami can still be killed by conventional means but rather than die of old age, Their memory simply fades away.

Clan Loyalty

While an Aragami is bound to its people and its race, It is not required to remain in its village. Many Aragami begin training in combat at a young age in order to be able to sell their services to wealthy and Prestigious members of Society. Aragami usually send a small sum of their earnings back to their Clan to help them Survive, But Aragami also return with information to help keep the Aragami people Modern and up-to-date on the outside world.

Skills and Abilities

With unique abilities, Aragami often find themselves as Naturally talented Spies, Thieves, Assassins and Infiltrators. Their Loyalty remains with their people but are not above Killing for Money. Their Services are frequently sought after as they gain a reputation of Skilled And Silent Professionals. 

An Aragami's skills is varied much like the rest of their personality. Some Aragami find themselves as swordsman, or Archers, while others find themselves spies, or saboteurs however and others find themselves fascinated with magic and other art forms. 

Aragami Names

Aragami do not use and view names the same as most races. They are still given a name at birth however that name can change many times over the adolescent life of an Aragami. However Upon their journey into Maturity Aragami are required to take part in a naming Ceremony in which they Finalise their Masks and Choose their Name for the rest of their Lives. 

Most Names are Chosen based on the Individuals Personality. 

"Novella" -An effeminate name for an Aragami who finds joy in Books.

"Noble" -A Masculine name for an Aragami who believes themselves Rather Intelligent and Educated.

"Copper" -A Masculine name for an Aragami who finds themselves working with metals such as Blacksmith.

Aragami Traits

Little is known about those born of Shadow, But those who are, are granted gifts exclusive to their family.

Stealth Bonus.

At Night or in Shadow or Shade you gain advantage on all Stealth Rolls.

Age

Aragami reach adulthood at the Start of their Twenty's. Rather than Physically age, their mental state deteriorates with age until their memories fade for good and they are left a hollow husk. 

Size

Aragami vary in size but do not exeed 6'5. Their Size is Medium

Speed

Their base walking speed is 30 feet. However at Night they gain a +20 Movement speed.

Shadow Step

You have the Unique Ability to Teleport between Shadows. As a Movement action once per turn you may move from where you are standing, into a nearby Shadow or Shade. It costs your movement action, but does not trigger Attacks of Opportunity. The range is equal to your movement.
