Homebrew Axolari Species Details

The Ambystoma are a rare aquatic race, native to pools located in underground caves and in a few ponds. They are often shades pink, blue, or brown. They tend to be more peaceful, but arent afraid to take up arms in order to defend themselves.

The Ambystoma (also known as Axolari) are a rare aquatic race, native to pools located in underground caves and in a few ponds. They have an appearance very similar to the axolotl, except humanoid, and are often shades pink, blue, or brown.

Big and Bubbly

Axolari rarely act cocky or brag. They believe others are equal to them, if not higher, and often do their best to make others feel the same way. They are therefore very wholesome. It is unknown if they were just made this way or meandering through life has gotten them to this amicable worldview. This is not to say they are sycophants, as axolari will usually not treat a bad person as well as one they perceive being good.

While rare, these axolari can turn towards an evil way of life. This can be a result of how they've been treated by others, who gave them their current life, etc.

Axolari have many abilites due to their reptilian and aquatic nature.

Ability Score Increase

Your Charisma score increases by 2, and your wisdom or dexterity increases by 1.

Age

Axolari Mature around the same rate as humans, but can live to around 200 years old.

Size

Axolari range from under 4 feet to over 7 feet tall, You're size is either medium, or small.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

Accustomed to dark caves and foggy waters, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Dank

You have advantage on Grapple checks and saves on escaping being grappled. 

Axolari Instinct

You gain a swim speed of 40 feet, and you can hold your breath indefinitely.

You also gain the ability to regenerate your body. As a bonus action roll a number of d6's equal to your Proficiency bonus, and add whatever you roll to your HP. you can use this feature once per long rest.

Torpid State

Axolari don’t need to sleep. Instead, they enter a torpid state, in this state you stay aware of your surroundings, and only requires 4 hours of torper instead of 8 hours of sleep to gain the effects of a long rest. You also regrow any missing limbs during a long rest.

Cute face

You have an adorable face, you have disadvantage on Intimidation checks, but advantage on persuasion checks.

You can speak, read, and write Common and Aquan.
