Homebrew Arborian Species Details
Arborians are tree-like humanoids. They have a similar shape and size as other humanoids; 2 arms, 2 legs, but with a few other characteristics. They are usually defined by bark-like skin, and sometimes with knots, holes, or sprouts across their body. They can have a varying number of fingers and toes and sometimes have leaves on the top of their heads.
Arborian Traits
Arborians share a number of traits in common with each other.Ability Score Increase
Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Strength score increases by 1.
Age
Arborians can have long lifespans depending on where they settle down, living up to anywhere from 300 to 500 years.
Size
Arborians are between 4 and 8 feet tall and weigh between 200 and 350 pounds. Your size is Medium.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Languages
You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice. Most arborians pick up a language predominately in the area they originated from.
Earth Born
You have proficiency in the Nature skill.
Natural Regeneration
As an action, you can touch a creature and allow it to roll a number of hit dice equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum 1) and regain hit points equal to the number rolled. Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
Bark Barrier
You have thick, bark-like skin. When you aren’t wearing armor, your AC is 12 + your Constitution modifier. You can use your natural armor to determine your AC if the armor you wear would leave you with a lower AC. A shield’s benefits apply as normal while you use your natural armor.
Magic of the Forest
You know the druidcraft cantrip. At 1st level, you can cast the entangle spell. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the barkskin spell once with this trait. When you reach 5th level, you can cast the speak with plants spell once with this trait. You must finish a long rest to cast these spells once again with this trait. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for them.
