Homebrew Chimeling Species Details

History

Chimelings don't have a definitive source, but the first reports of their existence have been from Feywild. They were primarily seen around circuses and fairs. They were initially treated with suspicion, but quickly found a place for themselves due to their friendly nature and joyous behavior. Chimelings spread out across the world, spreading cheer and happiness, and even appeared in other planes of reality as well, all to varying degrees of acceptance. Largely, chimelings are historically welcomed and even various isolationist groups are more inclined to befriend a chimeling.

Chimelings are known to be frequent patrons of Corellon Larethian. Additionally, chimelings are known to be naturally gifted at musical arts and many can find a comfortable place as a bard. Though chimelings are instinctually drawn to goodness, it isn't impossible for a chimeling to become evil.

Physical Features

Chimelings are extremely large creatures, standing from on average, 8 to 10 feet tall, though chimelings with some halfling lineage have been known to be as small as 6 feet tall. They feature a humanoid body of almost identical features to elves, but with a solid gold, copper, silver, or amethyst outer skin that is incredibly hard. Chimeings feature four fingers, four toes, two hands, two arms, two legs and two feet. The bell on their heads largely varies in shape and texture, but is usually hanging from a large wooden rod that extends where a spine would be. Chimelings have no voice, but the sound of their bell can very in sound and even extend to sounds that don't include bell rings.

Chimeling Traits

Chimelings use echolocation, can deafen enemies with their ringing, and their rings are universally understood by any living being with comprehension of a single language.

Furious Clang

Put all your energy into a mighty ring of your bell head. This deafening banging sends out painful chimes that will stun the enemy with the force of the sound and deafen them with the pure intensity of the sound. When succeeding, enemies within 20 feet must make a constitution saving throw (and those within 5 feet roll with disadvantage). Should they fail, they will become stunned for a single turn. Additionally, they will become deafened for 10 minutes. The unique magical properties of chimelings' bell allow it to "tune" allies out of this sound.

Common Resonance

You speak through ringing your bell head. These resonant energies you release are universally understood by any creature of being who understands a spoken language, no matter if it's largely known are not. You do not gain the ability to understand them, however. Additionally, you can selectively choose who can hear these rings.

Bell-Skin

Since your chimeling skin is made of soft metal, you gain a single extra AC point.
