Homebrew Borosi Species Details

Borosi history is intertwined with an alien being that took an interest in one Borosi bloodline. It gave them an intense affinity for magic. This helped that particular bloodline survive the bloody purges that followed which eliminated all the other bloodlines. This unnamed bloodline is the origin of all borosi today. Borosi often interbred within their communities but they were also open to breed with other feline races and even humans. This helped buoy their numbers and leaves them with a healthy population today. There is news however that as a result of these breeds, borosi can experience diminishing magic abilities, which leads them to seek the alien to rejuvenate their powers.

The alien being has not directly interacted with the borosi en masse for centuries. Borosi individually can receive dreams and converse with the alien and they have reported that the being only reaches out in times because its followers numbers are low. And so, it grants the borosi it contacts rejuvenated magic power, in exchange for their obedience to it as cultists. The alien is often very cryptic in these dreams and hasn't revealed its identity just yet. The dreams usually stop after a few weeks and the contacted borosi has renewed powers.

Borosi have historically been miners, like dwarves. They don't harvest mineral for forging however, and it's often the dirty type of minerals for fuel, like coal. Thus, they often make up only one portion of societies and have historically dwelled alongside others that supplemented them in community needs. Often times, they will get along with other anthropomorphic animal races.
