Homebrew Allurean Species Details

Allurean's are medium to small, humanoid butterfly folk with an affinity for manipulating emotions and thoughts. This gift allows them to gather loyal groups and a tight bond is built between large groups of their own kind. Anyone not akin to the powder they shed will quickly fall prey to their charming antics. 
Allurean's use a special dust produced on their wings to charm those unlucky enough to breathe it in and hold a grip on their thoughts and emotions. Most of the time they will not use this power for harm but merely use their gift to keep everyone in a cool state of mind. However, should an Allurean feel the need to have someone else do their dirty work, it is not uncommon for them to seek out a smaller being to do just that. Allurean's name their kids based off of the type of butterfly wings they possess, i.e. Chestnut, Admiral. (This also applies to Latin names.) 

Allurean's have dark brown, black or white bodies with fluff covering their chest, shoulders, forearms, lower legs and upper back. These areas is typically the most ripe with alluring dust along with their wings that span down to their ankles, which hide most of their body except for the front. Wings can range in any colour but is almost always light to dark brown underneath. Their hair also made of the same fluff that covers most of their body, and they have small antennae on the top of their heads that vary in size depending on sex, with males having longer antennae than females. Allureans also have large, single coloured eyes (Dark blue to brown) that allow them to see a wider colour spectrum.

In every Allurean tribe there is a Monarch. These Monarch uphold peace within the tribe but can vary in temperament. Most Monarchs are sweet and friendly, choosing peaceful outcomes to issues that arise in both the internal workings of the tribe and the external workings. Some Monarchs however, take a more controlling approach, as Monarchs possess a higher level of power to other Allureans and can use it to their advantage.

Allurean Monarchs have more pronounced fluff and larger wings that span slightly past their feet. Their colours are more vibrant and they have more complex patterns. They possess four arms, with their extra pair tucked away around their upper abdomen. There eyes can be in a wider range of colours and they are significantly larger. It is believed that Allurean's powder gains it's power from the approval of the Monarch but not even Allureans know if this is true.

Allureans typically reside in deep forestry but they can be found in close to open fields, which can be a challenge any village recently built nearby, as Allureans are known to be very stubborn and will be very unlikely to abandon their home.

 

Allurean Traits

As an Allurean, you have the following racial traits; Flutter, Allurean Grace and Monarch's Embrace.

Flutter

Your walking speed is 20ft and your flying speed is 30ft. 

Your flying speed is reduced to 0 after being partially submerged in water or after being exposed to rain for one minute. If you get out, you can use an action to dry off, otherwise, fully dry off after 10 minutes as long as you are not exposed to rain again during that time. 

You cannot fly while wearing medium or heavy armour. 

Creature type

You are humanoid. 

Languages

You speak common. 

Ability Score Increase

Your Dexterity increases by 2 and your Charisma by 1. 

Allurean Grace

Your vibrant colours provide you with extra charm, giving you proficiency in Performance.  

Monarch's Embrace

Spray dust in a cone of 15ft in front of you, starting with the creature that has the lowest current hit points, each creature affected by this feature becomes charmed by you for one minute. Subtract each creature’s hit points from your current hit point total before moving on to the creature with the next lowest hit points. A creature’s hit points must be equal to or less than the remaining total for that creature to be affected.

 

Charmed creatures will not attack the charmer and the charmer will have advantage on any charisma checks towards the charmed creatures.

If you or your allies attempt to do harm to any of the charmed creatures, the charm will break for all effected creatures. This includes attacking, harmful spells and forced movement, i.e. shoving, pulling, etc. 

Charmed creature will listen to you and follow tasks you give for the duration of the charm, however, they will not cause harm to anyone or themselves as a result of your orders.

After the charm wears off, any charmed creature will know they were charmed by you. 

Turbulent gusts of wind disburse the dust you spray, causing it to be ineffective, meaning this feature can not be used in moderate winds of 15 miles per hour or higher. Any creature that would have been hit by the dust but is in winds of 15 miles per hour or higher, is immune to the effects of the dust. 

This feature cannot be used while wet or in rain.
