Homebrew Batfolk Species Details

In the high mountains, in forests, or in caves, you may find a colony of Batfolk. While many think that Batfolk are related to Mousefolk because of their many similarities, they are in fact, not related.

Batfolk Traits

Your Batfolk character has a number of traits

Ability Score Increase

Your Dexterity increases by 2 and your Wisdom by 1.

Age

Batfolk reach maturity in their late 10s. Their lifespan is usually about 50 years.

Alignment

Because of their generally secluded lifestyle, most Batfolk don't prescribe to social norms of law, so they generally lean towards chaos or neutrality.

Size

Batfolk are usually about 2.5 - 3.5 ft tall, and weigh no more that 50 lbs. Your Size is small.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 ft.

Flight

You have a flying speed of 50 ft. If you are wearing medium armor this speed is reduced to 25 ft and if wearing heavy armor you cannot fly.

Superior Darkvision

Accustomed to dark living conditions, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 120 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Echo Location

As a bonus action, you can choose to let out a shriek or series of clicks that most humanoids can't hear. Doing this gives you advantage on Perception checks related to listening

Claws and Teeth

Your claws and teeth are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing (for slash) or piercing (for bite) damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common, Squeak Speak, and Auran.
