You know the dancing lights cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the color spray spell once with this as a 1st-level spell, and you regain the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest.

When a creature you can see within 60ft of you makes an attack,  casts a spell, or creates some other effect that deals acid, cold, fire, lightning, radiant, or necrotic damage, you can use your reaction to substitute that damage type with a different type of damage from this list. If an effect deals Multiple damage types, you can only substitute one. This substitution continues as long as the initial effect itself. Once you’ve used this feature, you can’t use it again until you complete a short rest.
