Homebrew Displacer Tabaxi Species Details
Born of the jungle and shadowed by the spirit of the wild, the Tabaxi have always embraced their primal connection to the untamed world. This species was forever altered when a sect of Tabaxi hunters, legends say, ventured deep into the Shadowlands, where they encountered and bonded with the elusive and deadly Displacer Beasts. Through darkened paths of ancient magic and trials of will, they forged a unique legacy, becoming kin to these beasts of shadow.
This heritage grants the Tabaxi the peculiar traits of their Displacer ancestors. Their four arms move with graceful efficiency, each claw-tipped hand as deft as the next, and twin whip-like tails swish behind them, flickering in and out of sight, blurring as though untethered to the world. They bear a sleek coat of fur, often darkened and patterned with shifting shadows, and their eyes gleam in shades of violet and emerald, betraying the sharp intelligence and feral instincts they carry.
Tabaxi of this lineage live as nomads and hunters, thriving in their ability to walk unseen, and few places in the Material Plane can contain their restless curiosity. Bound to neither forest nor city, they roam in search of the unknown, with loyalty only to their ancestral call and their quest for freedom in shadow and light alike.
Displacer Tabaxi Traits
As a Displacer Tabaxi, you have these special traits.Creature Type
You are a Humanoid.
Size
Your size is Medium (about 7–8 feet tall).
Speed
Your Speed is 35 feet, and you have an equal Climbing Speed.
Darkvision
You have Darkvision with a range of 60 feet.
Feral Claws
You can use your claws to make unarmed strikes. When you hit with them, the strike deals 1d4 + your Dexterity modifier slashing damage, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
Feral Talent
You have proficiency in the Perception and Stealth skills.
Four Armed
You have two primary and two secondary arms. In contrast to your primary arms, your secondary arms can only manipulate an object, open or close a door or container and pick up or set down a tiny object.
Displacement
You can create a certain amount of illusory duplicates of yourself in your space as an Action. The duplicates move with you and mimic your actions, shifting position so it’s impossible to track which image is real. Each time a creature hits you with an attack roll during the duration, roll a d6 for each of your remaining duplicates. If any of the d6s rolls a 3 or higher, one of the duplicates is hit instead of you, and the duplicate is destroyed. The duplicates otherwise ignore all other damage and effects. The trait ends when all duplicates are destroyed.
A creature is unaffected by this spell if it has the Blinded condition, Blindsight, or Truesight.
This lasts for 1 minute or until you end it (no action required.) Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a Long Rest.
