Astral Vexari

 

The Astral Vexari are a mysterious race believed to be creatures born from the void between the stars. Their forms are fluid, with bodies woven from stardust and dark energy, faintly glowing with a core of cosmic fire. They exist in a strange flux between the Material and Astral planes, appearing both corporeal and incorporeal.

 

Racial Traits

 

Ability Score Increase. Your Intelligence score increases by 2, and your Dexterity score increases by 1.

 

Age. Astral Vexari do not age in the traditional sense. They come into existence fully formed and do not appear to show signs of aging, living up to a thousand years or more.

 

Alignment. The Astral Vexari have an otherworldly sense of morality, often leaning towards neutrality. However, their mysterious origins can lead some to either benevolent curiosity or a dark, chaotic nature.

 

Size. Astral Vexari vary in height from 5 to 7 feet. Your size is Medium.

 

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

 

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.

 

Cosmic Body

 

Your physical form is more akin to an ethereal construct than flesh and bone, granting you unique advantages and challenges.

 

Astral Resilience. You have resistance to necrotic damage and radiant damage.

 

Void Step. As a bonus action, you can teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all uses after a long rest.

 

 

Starborn Essence

 

Your body and mind are deeply attuned to cosmic energies.

 

Darkvision. Accustomed to the darkness of the Astral plane, you can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

 

Ethereal Veil. As an action, you can cause your form to become partially incorporeal for 1 minute. During this time, you can move through creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. If you end your turn inside an object, you are ejected to the nearest unoccupied space and take 1d10 force damage. Once you use this trait, you can't do so again until you finish a short or long rest.

 

 

Cosmic Presence

 

The aura of an Astral Vexari is unsettling and awe-inspiring.

 

Alien Mind. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened.

 

Starflare (Optional Spell-like Ability). Starting at 3rd level, you can cast the Faerie Fire spell once with this trait, requiring no material components. At 5th level, you can cast Mirror Image once with this trait. You regain the ability to cast these spells in this way when you finish a long rest. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
