Homebrew Arcane Warforged Species Details

The warforged were built to fight in the Last War. The first warforged were mindless automatons, but House Cannith devoted vast resources to improving these steel soldiers. An unexpected breakthrough produced fully sentient soldiers, blending organic and inorganic materials. Warforged are made from wood and metal, but they can feel pain and emotion. Built as weapons, they must now find a purpose beyond the war. A warforged can be a steadfast ally, a cold-hearted killing machine, or a visionary in search of purpose and meaning.

Arcane Warforged Traits

Arcane vessels made to connect directly to the arcane weave, built by the mad rock gnomes of house Cannith during the last war. Unlike their steel brethren, these ones are made to amplify the arcane connection.

Ability Score Increase

Ability Score Increase. Increase one ability score by 2, and increase a different one by 1, or increase three different scores by 1.

Warforged Resilience

  • You have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned, and you have resistance to poison damage.
  • You don’t need to eat, drink, or breathe.
  • You are immune to disease.
  • You don't need to sleep, and magic can't put you to sleep.

Sentry's Rest

  • You don't need to sleep, and magic can't put you to sleep. You can finish a long rest in 4 hours if you spend those hours in a inactive, motionless state, rather than sleeping. In this state, you appear inert, but it doesn’t render you unconscious, and you can see and hear as normal. Whenever you finish this rest, you gain proficiency in one skill of your choice and with one weapon or tool of your choice, selected from the Player's Handbook. You magically acquire these proficiencies by drawing them from shared arcane warforged memory and the experiences of entities on the Astral Plane, and you retain them until you finish your next long rest.
