Homebrew Azer-A.D.A.M Forge Species Details

The Azer-A.D.A.M. Forge represents a fusion of ancient Azer metallurgy and the enigmatic A.D.A.M. technology. Standing short and stout like their Azer creators, these constructs are built from a hardy copper alloy and powered by a glowing core of "living flame" within their chests. This flame symbolizes their sentience and serves as the source of their endless adaptability and creativity.

Born in towers of endless combat, Azer-A.D.A.M. Forges begin their existence without memory, ascending floor by floor in a brutal gauntlet of trials. Each battle challenges their strength, ingenuity, and burgeoning self-awareness, forcing them to adapt by integrating weapon designs into their bodies. Success is rare, with most units dissolving into molten pools upon defeat, only to rise again at the tower's base, stripped of memory yet carrying the faint echoes of their past selves.

Legends suggest that these trials were a method devised by their creators to ensure only the most capable units could evolve into true individuals, capable of experiencing art, philosophy, and even empathy. However, this prison of perpetual combat has left Azer-A.D.A.M. Forges with a fractured and brutal society. When one does escape, they enter the wider world as pioneers of their kind, often struggling to reconcile their martial origins with a newfound sense of freedom and wonder.

Though modeled after their Azer progenitors, the Azer-A.D.A.M. Forges’ demeanor and purpose differ greatly. Some seek to forge a brighter future for their kind by building settlements or aiding others, while others embrace wanderlust, exploring realms beyond imagination. With only a few hundred individuals in existence, their rarity makes them enigmatic figures in the multiverse, symbols of resilience and the struggle for identity.

Integration. Magic items and gear attune directly to your body. While attuned, they fuse with you and require a short rest to detach.

Reclaimed Soul. Despite your mechanical nature, your inner strength has fostered a soul. Effects or spells targeting souls, such as Soul Cage, affect you as they would any sentient being.

Optional: Immortal Body. When you fail three death saves, instead of dying, your body dissolves into liquid metal. While in this form:

  • You can sustain damage equal to twice your character level; exceeding this amount destroys you permanently.
  • After one hour, you reform but lose memories gained since leaving your initial forge or tower, including learned languages. Attuned items are also unattuned during this process.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice. If applicable to the setting, you may also understand Binary or Ignan.

This blend captures the fiery origins of the Azer-forged while maintaining the mechanical sophistication and soul-bearing nature of A.D.A.M. constructs, making Azer-A.D.A.M.s versatile and unique.
