Homebrew Yeeenkai (EM) Species Details

"During The Great Hunt, the Yeeenkai were notorious for their prowess in combat and sinister laughter. Some question what lies in the head of each of them... are they truly efficient hunters with impulsive decisions, or are they displaying a facade? Regardless, no one can deny their effectiveness in the field... even if I may not see eye to eye with most of them."

Battle Born

Yeeenkai were first recorded at the beginning of The Great Hunt. This event comprised of a terrifying battle between flesh and fur, leaving many individuals with horrible wounds, memories, and losses as a result. Taking place in the realm of Ranova, the local residents on both sides believed that the Yeeenkai were called at the first smell of blood and combat. They didn't care for the reasoning of war, only wishing to partake in it. After the fight concluded, many Yeeenkai unfortunately parished as a result. Some stayed and joined the beastfolk in Animalvara, while others left to explore other realms. Some believe they are looking for the next Great Hunt to participate in.

Crazed Cacklers

Yeeenkai are often associated with their instinctive laughter and insane behavior. It's impossible to mistake them for anything else with their massive frame and howling snickering being distributed throughout their path. Many see them as impulsive individuals that react on mere instinct, which for most Yeeenkai- this fits them quite well. Often displaying their rage and fury through combat.

Honorable Hunters

Yeeenkai often hunt in packs, banding together to become quite a force to be reckoned with. Utilizing their environment and knowledge of their prey to strike swiftly and accomplish victory. Yeeenkai often respect other warriors and hunters, and the thrill of the hunt is what invigorates the furry fighters. Although the mental state of the Yeeenkai tends to be questioned, their dedication and grit is not up for debate.

Noble Names

When it comes to names, Yeeenkai spend most of their lives lacking one until they complete their first major score. This score is generally completed independently and usually results in a name that relates to the task completed. A Yeeenkai that took down an owlbear with their jaws alone would probably be named "Bigger Bite Than Bear", while a Yeeenkai that saved several cubs may be regarded as "Protector of Youngings".

Yeeenkai (EM) Traits

As a Yeeenkai, you have the following unique racial traits.

Ravenous Rampage

Yeeenkai may have evolved past their feral brethren, but the scent of fresh blood tends to awaken their primal instinctive nature. Their craving for bloodlust will be satisfied.

Whenever you reduce a creature to 0 hit points with a melee attack on your turn, you can use a bonus action to move up to half your speed and make another melee attack as part of the same attack action that triggered this feature.

You can use this trait a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Barbaric Bite

Yeeenkai are bloodthirsty creatures with a knack for satisfying their aggressive craving. One of the dead giveaways for this is their crimson stained fangs that are just itching for some action.

You can use your sharp teeth to make unarmed strikes. When you hit with them, the strike deals 1d6 + your Strength modifier piercing damage, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.

Crazed Cackling

Yeeenkai are already terrifying when you can overhear their psychotic laughter… leaving you to wonder what horrendous ideas they have in store for you.

What’s even more alarming is when they attempt others to join them in turning a bloodbath into a comedic event.

Starting at 3rd level, you can cast the Tasha's Hideous Laughter spell with this trait, without requiring a material component. Once you cast the spell with this trait, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest. You can also cast the spell using any spell slots you have of 1st level or higher.

Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for it when you cast Tasha's Hideous Laughter with this trait. (You may choose the modifier when you reach level 3).
