Homebrew Blorp Arc Species Details
Blorp Arcs are small, liquid-based creatures, typically standing around a foot tall. Their bodies are composed of a malleable, semi-solid substance that can shift and mold into different shapes. While not transparent, their bodies often have a soft, gelatinous sheen, with colors that range from pastel hues to more vibrant tones depending on their mood or surroundings. Their forms are fluid and flexible, allowing them to change their size and appearance with ease. Despite their small stature, their amorphous nature gives them an uncanny ability to stretch, squish, and contort themselves into all manner of shapes. Their limbs are often elongated or compressed at will, and their features can shift, allowing them to mimic the appearance of other creatures—often taking on humorous or whimsical forms like the iconic Neco Arc, or even blending into their surroundings when necessary.
Their faces are expressive, though they lack solid features like other humanoids. Their eyes are large and bright, often appearing as floating orbs of color within their liquid bodies. Despite their liquid form, they possess an innate charm, making them approachable and endearing. A Blorp Arc’s liquid-like body does not spill or leak, maintaining its integrity no matter how it stretches or squishes, and they can reshape themselves with a fluidity that’s both mesmerizing and amusing to watch.
When asleep, a Blorp Arc’s color might dull slightly, as they are in a lower-energy state. Their form becomes soft and squishy, and their features—such as their eyes—might soften or fade. If they’re resting in a place with ambient light or natural colors, their body could even blend in with their surroundings as a method of camouflage. In some cases, Blorp Arcs may choose to sleep in a container or small space (like a jar or bottle), where they feel safe and comfortable. In this state, they might appear even more like a benign object, not drawing attention from those who pass by.
Blorp Arc Traits
Liquid Manipulation, Blorp Bag, Squeeze and Amorphous Form, Darkvision, Sunlight SensitivityLiquid Manipulation
You have the ability to manipulate your liquid form to an extent, allowing you to create simple tools and objects temporarily, like a hand for lifting or a crude weapon. You can use this feature to create small, temporary tools (such as a hammer, a dagger, or a cup) made from your own liquid body. These objects dissolve after an hour or if you revert to a non-weapon form.
Darkvision
You can see in darkness as if it were dim light, up to a range of 30 feet. You can perceive shades of gray, but not color, in darkness.
Sunlight Sensitivity
You have disadvantage on attack rolls and Wisdom (Perception) checks when you, the target of your attack, or whatever you are trying to perceive is in direct sunlight.
Creature Type
You are an Ooze.
Size
Tiny. Blorp Arcs stand about 1 foot tall, and their fluid nature allows them to change shape. They can squeeze through spaces as narrow as 1 inch wide.
Speed
Your walking speed is 30 feet.
Squeeze
Squeeze:
You can squeeze into and fit inside objects as small as 1 inch in diameter (or other similarly sized openings), such as a water bottle, a narrow crack in a wall, or a tiny jar. Your liquid-like body allows you to condense and mold into the shape of whatever container or object you enter.
- Restrictions: While you can squeeze into objects that fit your size, you cannot alter the object itself. For example, you can't move the container or make it larger. If the container is airtight, you can still survive inside, but you will need to make Constitution saving throws every hour to avoid suffocating (DC 10, increasing by 1 every hour after).
- Objects You Can Enter: You can enter any object or container that is at least 1 inch wide in diameter. The larger the object, the more room you have to move around in, but even inside small containers, you can rest or store yourself (without suffocating, of course).
- Escape: You can escape any container or object you squeeze into automatically by spending 1 action to return to your normal form. Additionally, your ability to squeeze into tight spaces and compress your body gives you advantage on Strength (Athletics) and Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks to escape grapples and similar effects that restrain you.
Adaptive Resilience
You have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned and are resistant to poison damage due to your amorphous, liquid nature.
Amorphous Form
You can change your shape and size, but within limits. Your body can stretch, compress, and distort to look like different creatures or alter your size (within reasonable limits). For example, you could look like Neco Arc, or extend a single arm to 5 feet for an attack. However, your overall size cannot increase beyond Medium or shrink beyond Tiny. This ability is useful for disguising yourself, hiding, or performing certain tasks (such as reaching or lifting heavy objects with extended limbs).
Blorp Bag
-
Your body can store up to 5 cubic feet of material, similar to a Bag of Holding. Items stored in this way are neatly contained within your liquid form. You can store anything that fits, from weapons to small treasure, or even creatures (up to Tiny size). Accessing items stored inside you requires a bonus action, and you can retrieve items of any weight as long as it fits within the space, although there are limits to the volume of what you can carry at once.
-
Note: Unlike a true Bag of Holding, you cannot store creatures larger than Tiny in this space, and the items you store cannot exceed a total weight of 100 pounds.
Shape Self
You can use your shape-shifting ability to alter your physical appearance, including the size, color, and features of your body. This can be used for disguise, intimidation, or simply to look like a different creature entirely (such as copying Neco Arc's appearance). The maximum size you can grow is Medium and your appearance can reflect anything from the color of your body to the structure of your limbs, but it’s important to note that this doesn’t grant you the ability to mimic specific abilities or other races’ powers.
