Homebrew Cybertronian Species Details

Now sent through march portals everywhere the cybertronians must now adapt to new parallel universes. All kinds of these creatures are made, and all of them are unique in separate aspects. Much like the warforged their species is known to be alive, containing a soul, and pursuing lives with independant sentience and wills.

Cybertronian Traits

Cybertronians can transform into a vehicle, beast, or device.

Ability Score Increase

+2 Constitution, +2 Strength, -2 Dexterity

Age

A typical Cybertronian is between two and thirty years old. The maximum lifespan of the Cybertronian remains a mystery; so far, Cybertronian have shown no signs of deterioration due to age and some have been around for hundreds of thousands of years.

Size

Cybertronians are either Medium or Large sized creatures, that come with disadvantages for their larger variants.

Medium: Cybertronians that are Medium creatures and receive no bonuses or penalties due to their size.

Large: Cybertronians that are Large creatures receive the bonuses from their large size as well as some disadvantages from their clunky builds.

Disadvantages:

1. Inaccessible Spaces: You cannot fit into areas designed for Medium or smaller creatures without DM discretion. Tight spaces and fragile structures may require checks or alternate routes.

2. Magical Healing Inefficiency: Your unique mechanical biology interacts poorly with conventional magic. You only regain half the hit points from any spell or effect that restores hit points (e.g., Cure Wounds, Healing Word). Healing potions do not affect you at all. Mending works on them, as do attempts to fix the creature using smiths or tinkerers tools (1d8+magic modifier or skill modifier)

3. Larger Target: Enemies have advantage on Perception checks to notice you in combat.

4. Clumsier Agility: Your walking speed is reduced by 5 feet (to 25 feet), and you have disadvantage on Acrobatics checks in combat.

5. Weighty Frame: You can weigh between 1,200 and 2,000 pounds. This immense size can affect your ability to interact with smaller or delicate environments.

Benefits:

1. Large creature: You gain all the benefits of being a large creature.

2. Enlarged Cleave: Your weapon attacks do additional 1d6 weapon damage per turn (Twice at level 10, and the damage increases to 1d8 at level 20)

3. Sentient Bulkwark: As a reaction to a ranged attack targeting a ally, you can act as a physical shield to intercept ranged weapon and magic attacks at allies behind you. When doing this your ac drops by 2 until the start of your next turn, but creatures can use you as full cover.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet, unless you are large (25ft)

Cryptonian Resilience

You were created to have remarkable fortitude, represented by the following benefits.

  • You have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned, and you have resistance to poison damage.
  • You are immune to disease.
  • You don’t breathe.

Integrated Protection

Your body has built-in defensive layers, which determine your armor class. You gain no benefit from wearing armor, but if you are using a shield, you apply its bonus as normal.

You can alter your body to enter different defensive modes; each time you finish a long rest, choose one mode to adopt from the Integrated Protection table, provided you meet the mode’s prerequisite.

Mode Prerequisite Effect
Darkwood Core (unarmored) None 11 + your Dexterity modifier (add proficiency bonus if proficient with light armor)
Composite Plating (armor) Medium armor proficiency 13 + your Dexterity modifier (maximum of 2) + your proficiency bonus.
Heavy Plating (armor) Heavy armor proficiency 16 + your proficiency bonus; disadvantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language.

Transformation

As a full-round action a Cybertronian may transform into their alt-mode or back, retaining all their normal statistics except size. However, alt-modes usually lack limbs and opposable digits and therefore transformed Cybertronians cannot make attacks with weapons (including natural weapons and unarmed strikes), cast spells with somatic components, or perform any action requiring at least one free hand unless otherwise specified.

While transformed, a Cybertronian gains a +10 bonus on Disguise checks to appear as a normal item of the alt-mode's type.

Once per longrest you can choose a alternate form for yourself in the shape of a tool or vehicle.

Aircraft: You are a aircraft of some kind. While transformed, you gain a fly or hover speed equal to half your base land speed with average maneuverability.

Automobile: You are a car, train, or similar vehicle. While transformed, your base land speed is doubled and your size adapts to the size of the chosen vehicle (only to adapt allowing proper mounted passengers).

Energy Weapon: You are a hand-held energy blaster. While transformed, you may be wielded by a friendly creature as a ranged weapon (using that creature's attack rolls with dex and proficiency with firearms). While being wielded, you deal 1d6 points of force damage per 3 character levels, deal triple damage on a critical hit, and have a range of 120 feet.

Tool: You are a highly advanced device of some kind e.g. a large and complex microscope for Search checks, a bulky music box for Perform (sing) checks, etc. While transformed you gain a +10 circumstance bonus on checks made with a particular skill. This bonus increases to +20 at 5th level, and to +30 at 9th level.

Watercraft: You are a ship or submarine. While transformed, you gain a swim speed equal to your base land speed. In either form you gain a +8 racial bonus on any Swim check to perform a special action or avoid a hazard. You may always choose to take 10 on a Swim check, even if distracted or endangered when swimming. You can use the run action while swimming, provided that you swim in a straight line.
