Species Example: Corrupt Naaru (Victoria Styx)

A Corrupt Naaru is a rare and terrifying form of existence born when a Naaru—a being of pure light—succumbs to the void. Unlike traditional Naaru, which emanate harmony and peace, a Corrupt Naaru exudes an aura of discord, destruction, and a twisted form of enlightenment.

Appearance

•Crystalline Form: Victoria becomes a radiant crystalline entity. Her body shimmers with fractured, translucent panels of black, purple, and violet.

•Fractured Halo: Surrounding her form is a shattered halo of jagged void-light shards, orbiting in erratic patterns, glowing faintly with corrupted energy.

•Voidlight Energy: Wisps of glowing void tendrils trail from her form, like space and void combined. These constantly shift between crystalline sparkles and shadowy void tendrils, representing the cosmic entity inside of her.

•Crackling Voice: Her voice resonates with a combination of musical harmony and deep, void-like distortion.

• (or Core): In her center burns a “core” that shifts between an intense red glow and an ominous black hole-like void, reflecting her dual nature and the gift necklace that fuses within her upon transformation.

Corrupt Naaru are no longer mortal beings or gods—they transcend traditional classifications. They exist in a state of paradox, neither alive nor dead, neither radiant nor wholly void.

Traits and Features of a Corrupt Naaru

1.Void-Touched Radiance

The Corrupt Naaru emits an aura of shadowy light that constantly shifts and pulses. This aura inspires both awe and terror.

•Aura of Dissonance: All creatures within 120 feet must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + proficiency + Charisma modifier) or become frightened (save ends). Allies are immune.

•Void Drain: Draw Void Essence from the void to heal Any creature the Naaru chooses within the aura they regain 20 hit points at the start of its turn, provided it is not a construct.

2.Shifting Form

The Corrupt Naaru’s body is amorphous, appearing to flicker between crystal and voidlike shadow.

•Flight: It has a flying speed of 120 ft, hovering.

•Immunity: Resistant to radiant and immune to necrotic damage, immune to being charmed, frightened, or paralyzed.

•Void-Luminescence: Any time the Naaru is attacked with necrotic damage, it absorbs all of that damage, regaining all as hit points. Any time it is radiant damage it absorbs half the damage done and regains half the damage absorbed as hp. 

3.Signature Ability: Tears of the Void

Victoria, as a Corrupt Naaru, can unleash devastating and wide-reaching powers known as Tears of the Void. These are manifestations of her essence that bend reality in her territory.

•Effect: Choose one of the following effects, powered by Sorcery Points:

•Weeping Rift: A black void tear opens in the area. All creatures within a 60-foot radius must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + proficiency + Charisma modifier) or take 10d10 necrotic damage, halved on success. The tear lasts for 1 minute, pulling all creatures toward its center.

•Void Tear Rain: Void droplets rain over a 1-mile radius. Allies heal for 20d6 necrotic damage and gain immunity to necrotic damage for 1 minute. Enemies in the radius take 20d6 necrotic damage 

•Resonant Tear: A wave of voidlight tears through the area. All spells and magical effects in a 1-mile radius end immediately, and Victoria gains a number of Sorcery Points equal to the total number of spells dispelled.

Sorcery Point Cost: 6 points per activation.

4.Territorial Influence: Void Nexus

The Corrupt Naaru’s presence warps the very fabric of reality in her claimed territory.

•Effect: While in her territory, Victoria can dictate environmental changes such as weather, gravity, and the flow of magic.

•Followers’ Influence: All of Victoria’s followers gain a fragment of her voidlight essence, allowing them to reroll a failed saving throw once per day and deal an extra 2d8 necrotic damage with attacks.

Victoria’s Corrupt Naaru form is heavily inspired by entities like K’ure and M’uru, Naaru who fell to void corruption. They retain a crystalline, floating appearance but radiate a disturbing void energy rather than the harmonious light of their pure form.

Victoria’s transformation gives her a unique place as a player character while evoking the same god-like terror as the Naaru-void hybrids seen in World of Warcraft.
