Homebrew Davanji Species Details
“Do you not see the way people look at you, child.”
A product of the mistake of the past with those red eyes as hot as the sun, yet as cold as a winter storm. The seriousness in his voice jolted him.
Since birth those of this species have been greeted with stares and whispers, to suffer violence and insult on the street, to see mistrust and fear in every eye: this is the lot of the Davanji. And to twist the knife, they have been known to hide their true identities and pretend to be another species. Yet in battles, they show their true self as if the fear of opinions no longer oppressed them. The Davanji have always been held accountable for destruction and chaos because of their bloodline.
Forsaken Bloodline
Davanji are derived from an Oni Bloodline, and in the broadest of daylight, they still decide to look human as to not have eyes staring at them as they travel, yet those red eyes always cause questions. However, their infernal heritage has left a clear imprint on their bloodline. Davanji thick scaled skin which can act like natural armor. In this sense they also have large horns that take any of a variety of shapes. They have thick tails with either fur at the end or a forked tail that is four to six feet long, which can be used as a weapon. Their canine teeth are sharply pointed, and their eyes are solid colors with no visible sclera or pupil. Their skin tones cover the full range of human coloration but also include various shades. Their hair, cascading down from behind their horns, is usually dark.
Dark Desires
Davanji are known to stay in small groups and hide in humanoid cities. They do their best to gain titles and high rankings as a way to never be suspected of being anything but a humanoid. They do not trust easily and when they give their loyalty to someone it cannot be broken until they are betrayed.
While they lack a homeland, Davanji know that they have to make their own way in the world and that they have to be strong to survive. They are not quick to trust anyone who claims to be a friend, but when one gains companions to demonstrate that they trust him or her, they learn to extend the same trust to them. And once they give someone loyalty, the Devanji is a firm friend or ally for life.
Hellish Birth
The Davanji were born in the under city, a place of fire and death yet some have been given a chance to live in the mortal realm. With their powers being reduced when doing so they can unleash an otherworldly power within themselves. A deadly power unleashed and showed the world that they are worthy of respect, yet some still do not fear them and hunt them for existence in the first place.
MET WITH MISTRUST
Ignorant people tend to be suspicious and violent towards Devanji, assuming that their heritage is evil and has left its mark on their personality and morality, not just their appearance. The reality is that a Devanji's bloodline doesn’t affect their personality. They are gifted with magic from the infernal realms but chart their own course in life.
