Homebrew Wolfkir Species Details

Believed to be the first race created, Wolfkir hum with energy and magic. A strong and fearless race deeply committed to the protection of all goodly people, the Wolfkir are fairly reclusive, but loving of adventures. Though a rare enough sight on the street to attract glances and double takes on the street, Wolfkir are generally known for being generous, honorable, and ferocious in battle.

Long-lived

Wolfkiran live long lives, and though they mature around the same rate as humans, some may live up to 1000 years old. They spend most of their early years training and studying, before venturing out into the world to seek adventure and wonder. Strongly tipped towards good, many Wolfkir become Paladin or Clerics in service of Akua, their God.

Homelands

Wolfkir generally all live in two massive cities concealed in an island off the sword coast, Lijihtari Dvellar, The City of Light, and Hyartsfii Dvellar, The City of Hope, many castles and keeps housing almost exclusively Wolfkir dot Faerun. Most of these are rumored to have teleportation chambers back to the two cities.

Both cities are almost impossible to defeat or overrun, due to an ingenious system of defenses, both magical and physical, around both cities, and due to their far off and hard to reach location. Very few guests are allowed to enter these cities.

The cities are ruled and guided under a system of elders, elected due to the qualities they show. This system has worked extremely well, with almost no instances of tyrannical rulers. This, in turn, has lead to the flourishing culture, economy, and diverse skills of the race, among which the most famous is the art of Mana-Crafting, imbuing an Item with unique powers that especially suit the maker, taking its energy from the magic of the world.

Behavior

Without exception, Wolfkir strive towards the betterment of the world, accepting the good and striving to improve the evil. Because of this, Wolfkir are treated with respect, and act justly and courageously in turn to earn it. Wolfkir behave with a nobleness that astonishes most people, usually acting selfless rather than selfish, as they have been taught from childhood.

The language and mannerisms of the Wolfkir are hard for Non-Wolfkir to pick up, mostly because it is very subtle and fast, relying on body and facial, and tail movements, as well as finger gestures, to get a message across. In addition, their native tongue is hard to learn, as the shapes are difficult to make, bearing in common with some elvish speech.

Physical Description

Smart, strong, and wise, Wolfkir are the huge wolf race that have lived for generations in the huge mountains in the far north. With powerful fangs, razor-sharp claws, and a ferocious appearance, Wolfkir are generally greeted by fear. They nevertheless go through life with unerring confidence and strength. Many are renowned for their overwhelming prowess in combat and heroic deeds. Believing in only one God, Akua, the God of everything good and true, they remain firm in faith no matter what. They strongly bound in packs and are true and faithful friends.

Wolfkir are essentially huge wolves, standing anywhere from 7 to 9 feet tall. They are very light, helping them to run almost indefinitely, and weigh no more than 210 lbs at most.Fur coats can range in color from tan to grey to black to white, and Wolfkir often have golden, tan, grey, black, and white patches or streaks in their fur. Cubs color depends on where they grow up, as it often matches the terrain around them, but it could change as they grow up.Wolfkir have large eyes that are either gold or green and occasionally blue.

One unique feature of the Wolfkir is hard scales that grow around their shoulders, hips, and necks. Nearly impenetrable, they are used to tip arrows and make armor mistakenly called Dragon Scale armor by other races.

Packs

To the Wolfkir, the most important thing in life is the pack, which is a family or clan. Wolfkir packs consist of anywhere from 10 to 1500 Wolfkiran, as well as several packs of normal wolves that Wolfkir harbor and shelter. Wolfkir are highly protective of their pack mates, young or old, and this trait causes them to care for the injured or helpless of other races with surprising kindness and sympathy. Among the Wolfkiran, there is never outcasts or unadopted orphans, and never and old or young left to die. Wolfkir are one of the most compassionate and kind races, no matter their outward appearance.

A continual drive to do better in all things is an ever present challenge Wolfkiran's life. Wolfkir are perfectionists, and if they don't do something right the first time, they will learn and train and try until they do. There is almost never any lone Wolfkir. Though many are away to explore and learn, they always will return to their pack.
