Homebrew Awakened Monkey Species Details

Awakened Monkeys have gained sapience and greater resilience via magical means, becoming much more than your typical primate. They often inhabit jungles infused with magical energy, though a normal monkey may be elevated to this status by a patron of some kind. They are often highly inquisitive, exploring and seeking to see more of the world. Though their home may be the jungle wilds, they often find themselves traveling abroad to see what they might find. They also have a tendency to collect interesting-looking objects, bringing them back to their homes in the treetops to decorate with.

Some Awakened Monkeys may find themselves serving as the ambassador between the realm of civilization and the realm of the wilderness, due to their empathy with beasts. After all, they may be intelligent, but they are still aware of their roots.

Ability Score Increase. Your Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma score increases by 1, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.

Age. Awakened Monkeys reach physical maturity at 5 years of age. However, their lifespans have been extended greatly by the magic that awakened them and they can live as long as a human can.

Natural Armor. Awakened Monkeys have a unarmored AC of 12 plus their Dexterity modifier. This can be used with shields.

Languages. Awakened Monkeys speak Common and have an empathy with regular animals able to speak with them as well

Alignments: Due to their playful, mischievous nature, Awakened Monkeys tend towards Chaotic alignments.
