Homebrew Awakened Otter Species Details

Otters are carnivorous mammals in the subfamily Lutrinae. Otters' habitats include rivers and seas. River otters might seasonally live in dens known as holts or couches while sea otters sleep under the stars holding hands. Groups of otters can be referred to as a romp, or raft when in water, indicating their social and playful characteristics. Otters have long, slim bodies and relatively short limbs. Their most striking anatomical features are the powerful webbed feet used to swim, and their seal-like abilities for holding breath underwater. Most have sharp claws on their feet and all except the sea otter have long, muscular tails. Their diet consists mostly of fish and some otters have been domesticated for their ability to herd fish into nets. They have a membrane called a tapetum lucida behind their eyes granting fair vision in low-light conditions and their sight improves even more underwater due to the shape of their eyes. They are playful and clever.
