Homebrew Ancerta Species Details

The Ancerta are a species of winged lizard humanoids that live underground in large caverns. They typically have brown, grey, or black scales, depending on the color of the rock in the cavern where they are born. Their tongues produce certain elemental effects when paired with certain mushrooms.

Darkvision

Your eyes have adapted to the underground caverns in which you live, you have dark vision for 60 ft.

Elemental Consumption

Your primary source of food is elemental mushrooms, though you can eat all other types of food. When you eat an elemental mushroom, your underbelly scales and tongue change to match the color of that mushroom, you become resistant to that damage type, and your tongue deals that type of damage. You are resistant to this type of damage until you take a short or long rest. When this happens, your scales and touge go back to their normal color and you lose your resistance. You have a base resistance to acid and your tongue's base color is a bright, acid green.

Elemental Lick

Your tongue is your natural weapon and deals 1d6+3 acid damage with a range of 5 feet. When you consume an elemental mushroom that isn't acid, your tongue deals 1d6+3 damage of that type of element. Your tongue resets to acid when you take a short or long rest.

You have eyes adapted to the caverns where you live giving you 60 feet of darkvision

Elemental Consumption: Resistance

When you consume an elemental mushroom, you gain a temporary resistance to the element of the mushroom you ate until you take a short or long rest.

Elemental Tongue

Your tongue deals a different type of elemental damage depending on the type of mushroom you consume. Its base damage is 1d6+3 acid but it can deal 1d6+3 of any elemental damage until you take a short or long rest depending on the mushroom you eat. You must be within 5 feet of an opponent to use your tongue.
