Homebrew Couatls Species Details
Couatls are a celestial race born from Siberys at the dawn of time. Along with the dragons, they battled the fiendish overlords of Khorvaire and Sarlona. Ultimately, the couatls sacrificed most of their number and combined their souls to form a prison to hold the overlords.
Scholars have theorized that their combined souls eventually became the force that is worshiped by the Church of the Silver Flame. The church is ambivalent on the topic, preaching that regardless of how the Flame was first kindled, there is a place within the Flame for all noble souls.
The few couatls that remain on Eberron are devoted servants of the light. They are most often found guarding the prison of the ancient fiendish overlords, and individuals sometimes act directly to aid adventurers who fight the forces of darkness.
Couatls Traits
Your couatl character has the following traits.Ability Score Increase.
An ability of your choice score increases by 2. In addition, one other ability score of your choice increases by 1.
Age
Couatls don't die by old age. They age untill a certain age is reached and then stop aging. They age equally as fast as humans. The age limit is different for every Couatl. Some stop aging at the age of 7, others only stop at 90. The mental age will always match the physical age.
Alignment
Couatls tend to go toward chaotic good. Few embrace evil.
Size
Your size is Large. To set your height and weight randomly, start with rolling a size modifier:
Size modifier = 3d10
Height = 7 feet + your size modifier in inches
Weight in pounds = 180 + (2d4 × your size modifier)
Speed
You have a flying speed of 30 and no walking speed.
Shapchanger
As an action, you can change your appearance and your voice to that of your humanoid form. Your walking, flying and swimming speed becomes that of your humanoid race. Your size becomes that of your humanoid race. Your clothing and equipment aren’t changed by this trait.
Language
You can speak, read, and write Common, Celestial and two other languages of your choice.
Couatls Focus
You gain proficiency with two skills of your choice.
