Homebrew Anglertooth Species Details

Deep underwater... shining lights pulse and crack as two creatures of massive size and terrible teeth fight viciously. Snarling roars and bubblings hisses bounce around the dark cliffs as the taller pins the smaller and leans in, terrifying teeth fully on display. The taller grins, her fings tied tightly back behind her head. "I win." Her brother scoffs, tossing her off of himself. "KIDS!" a bellow from the vent they have made their home next to causes both Angertooth to look up and grin. "SUPPER!" 
Quickly, they shot over, zipping with powerful fins and muscles despite the crushing pressures of the deep sea....

 

Anglertooth make their homes in deep waters near hydrothermal vents, using their crushing strength and surprising resilience to survive the harshest environments known to the elemental planes... 

Shining and Strong

Anglertooth seem to take the treats of the angler-fish. They have long and shining lures that they style back like hair, and long, vicious teeth that are ny impossible to break and constantly shedding. Other than that, their appearances can vary wildly, with many having reddish or bluish skin tones. All Anglertooth exhibit biolumenanscent patterns on their skin flaring with strong emotion.
Surviving under pressure makes their muscles frighteningly strong. They are resourceful as well, with many of their tools made of their own shed teeth. 

Anglertooth Names

Anglertooth tend to name themselves after the first thing they manage to lure in and hunt with any degree of success, with young children taking names such as Rock or Crab. Older Anglertooth, especially the very scarred ones, names, have stories to tell.

Your Strength score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1.

Age

Anglertooth mature a little faster than most races, reaching adulthood around age 14. They age noticeably faster and rarely live longer than 75 years.

Size

Anglertooth are much larger and bulkier than most other races, and they range from 6 to well over 7 feet tall. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet. Your base swimming speed is 30ft as well.

Deep Darkvision

Thanks to your pitch black home, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 120 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Unseen Threat

You gain proficiency in the Intimidation skill.

Under Pressure

When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead. You can’t use this feature again until you finish a long rest.

Starving Attacks

When you score a critical hit with a melee weapon attack, you can roll one of the weapon’s damage dice one additional time and add it to the extra damage of the critical hit.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Deep Speech. Deep Speech is a haunting, almost sing-song language. It has no script of its own but has a variant of Sign Language to communicate written word via drawings of the symbols made with the hands.
