Homebrew Arcane Changeling Species Details
The Arcane Changeling is a very rare to form naturally. Being formed from magical incidents, these types of Changeling of many souls of humanoids giving them an unstable and non-constant appearance. Although they're a amalgamation of countless souls, non of the original personalities of them remain and the Arcane Changeling will be its own individual regardless of the souls within.
Most commonly created artificially to be used as untraceable agents of war, these things are created by a spell merging the souls of 10 or more different humanoids.
In the very rare occasion that an Arcane Changeling is created for non-malicious means, it is often done by accident. such as a village's Wizard messing up a complicated spell dooming the entire populous, or an freak anomaly in The Weave devastating a small settlement. In both of these cases, all the lives of these people are lost and an Arcane Changeling is found in the Epicentre.
These creatures are immensely rare and almost it is almost impossible to figure out if someone is one lest you find them as they're formed.
The shape-shifting abilities of the Arcane Changeling stem from the fractured, amalgamated soul they house. this allows them to change the shape of their soul and thus their appearance at will to allow them to blend into any situation.

- Ability Score Increase - Due to the unstable nature of your soul, you can increase one ability by 2 and another by 1
- Age - no Arcane Changeling has ever been recorded dying so there is no know limit to how old one can be
- Alignment - Although the Arcane Changeling has its own distinct personality, it is formed by the souls they're created from. (chose what you want)
- Size - Medium
- Speed - 30 feet
- Languages - Most of the Arcane Changelings innate knowledge is also formed from the combined experiences of the souls they're made up of, You know Common and 2 other languages of your choice.
- Proficiencies - Due to your innate knowledge being made up of the souls within you, choose 2 proficiencies that make sense with you're backstory.
Arcane Changeling Traits
Due to the unstable nature of the magic within the Arcane Changeling, they will have many special abilities.Shape Soul
Gained at Level 0, Using a Bonus Action, an Arcane Changeling can alter almost all aspects of their appearance.
The feature they're able to change are:
- Appeared as race
- Height
- colour
- weight
- body shape
- facial features
- hair style, length, colour, etc.
- sex
- voice
- and most other characteristics of humanoid species
some things you cant change are your number of limbs and into a non-humanoid species as well as your size class.
Reinforced Soul
Gained at 5th Level. By partially altering an aspect of your soul, you can gain resistance to 1 type of damage. this can be done by the Arcane Changeling 1 time per Long Rest and the resistance will not change unless altered.
Shapeless Soul
Gained at 10th Level. Now with more experience in altering the shape of your soul, you're able to release your soul from any shape and become formless.
This ability will allow the Arcane Changeling to cast the spell Gaseous Form at will with cooldown being a short rest.
