Homebrew Afsari Species Details

Playing an Afsari

Afsari are beings of the wind, fire, and desert, often caught between their deep connection to the elemental forces and their desire to experience the world beyond. As an Afsari, you might find yourself torn between your natural affinity for the untamed elements and your desire to connect with others. Whether you embrace the passions of fire, the unpredictability of the storm, or the ancient wisdom of the desert, you are a creature of immense beauty, power, and mystery.

Their connection to the elements gives them the ability to manipulate the world around them, making Afsari characters excellent choices for those who wish to play a mystical, elemental being with both great power and a deep bond to the natural world.

Afsari Traits

Racial Traits:

Ability Score Increase:

Your Charisma score increases by 2, and your Dexterity score increases by 1.
Afsari are captivating and graceful, with an innate charm that draws others to them. Their agility and fluid movement are a reflection of their connection to the winds and the elements.

Age:

Afsari are long-lived beings, often living for several centuries. They mature more quickly than humans, reaching adulthood by the age of 20, but their lives are drawn out by the ethereal nature of their existence. As ageless beings, many Afsari become wise and reflective, holding vast knowledge of the planes and the world's elemental forces.

Alignment:

Afsari are typically neutral in alignment, as they are tied to the ever-changing and unpredictable nature of the elements. Some lean toward good, seeking to guide or protect others, while others may embrace a more chaotic or selfish existence, as they embody the volatile and free-spirited essence of the winds.

Elemental Affinity (Air and Fire):

You have resistance to fire damage and cold damage. This is a reflection of your affinity with the elements of air and fire, allowing you to withstand both the heat of flames and the chill of the sky.

Galeform:

As an action, you can shift into a form of pure air for up to 1 minute. While in this form, you cannot attack or interact with objects, but you can move through small openings, pass through cracks, and fly at a speed of 30 feet. You can use this ability once per short or long rest.

Wind Whisperer:

You can cast the Thaumaturgy cantrip at will, and you can use it to create wind effects, such as rustling papers or causing a breeze. Additionally, you have proficiency in the Persuasion or Insight skill, reflecting your ability to communicate with both the natural world and those around you.

Sands of Time:

You can manipulate the sands of time for brief moments, allowing you to slow down the passage of time for yourself or others. Once per long rest, as a reaction to being hit by an attack, you can impose disadvantage on that attack roll. Alternatively, you can use this ability to take the Dash or Disengage action as a bonus action on your turn once per long rest.

Desert’s Blessing:

You are accustomed to the harsh climates of deserts and arid regions. You do not suffer the effects of extreme heat or cold as normal, and you can go without food and water for twice as long as a human can. Additionally, you can cast Create or Destroy Water once per long rest without expending a spell slot.

Languages:

You can speak, read, and write Common and Primordial. You can also understand the language of winds and the desert sands, allowing you to communicate with creatures of elemental air and fire.
