Homebrew Arachne 5E V2 Species Details
Arachne summery
the Arachne, though often mistaken for Driders, are a good-natured race who keep to themselves on the outskirts of cities and out in dense forests and jungles where they form villages who, despite popular belief, do not make all their buildings out of web and silk, and are more widely spread across the forests of the world than most people would think. the arachne are able to freely breed with other races and carry a single child in their humanoid abdomen, not their thorax. female Arachne giving birth to children who have Arachne eyes and lower bodies while their torso, arms, and head look like their non-Arachne parent, while a male Arachne will sire a child who looks purely of its mothers' race, save a single set of Arachne eyes. an Arachnes subrace is completely random, a burrower can give birth to leaping or even weaver. Arachne enjoy crafting, hunting and socializing with other people and races, even if people are put off by their similarities to the Driders of the underdark. Arachne are broken up into several subraces the larger wolf and weaver Arachne and the smaller burrower and leaper Arachne. they mature physically around 13 and live around 70-80 years.
Arachne can breed freely with any race they come across. females will give birth to a single child carried in there humanoid abdomen, not there thorax, that will have a random subrace with its humanoid half resembling its other parent while males that breed with a non-Arachne will sire a child that looks entirely of its mothers race, save for 2 Arachne eyes in place of its mothers normal ones. an arachne is born without its Arachnid legs to make the process easier which then grow between 3-6 months after birth.
Arachne society
Arachne live in a matriarchal society where when a mayor or chieftainess retires or dies, a successor is elected from the wisest women in the village. the Arachne are a kind race and are friendly to outsiders but grow annoyed when compared to Driders, whom they Despise for there evil nature which caused the Arachne to be shunned and cast out from most societies which is why most of there villages are located deep in the forests, away from prying eyes. They believe they existed before all other spiders, the first spiders being created in ancient times when the gods punished the Arachne by taking the intelligence of the most corrupt and evil Arachne and turning them into the beasts now called spiders.
Arachne appearance
an Arachne has 2 spider eyes where normal eyes would normally be as well as 2,4, or 6 additional smaller eyes located on their forehead. in their mouths, an Arachne has a pair of 2" long retractable fangs they can use to bite and paralyze an opponent. as stated above their humanoid half is determined by either their male parent or is a mix of the 2 Arachne parents appearances. their back and shoulders are covered extremely soft and flexible Chaitin as well as making up the flesh that connects there humanoid and arachnid halves. their arachnid halves appearance is determined by there subrace. a weaver will be covered in smooth and shiny black or deep purple Chaitin with slender and graceful legs, they range from 5'2"-6'6" tall. a burrower will be covered in reddish-brown Chaitin with slightly stocky legs and front-most legs are thicker and stronger and are strong enough to break stone if necessary, they range from 4'8"-6' tall. a leaper is covered in short and fuzzy fur that's black with white stripes, they range from 4'2"-5'6" tall. and a wolfs body is covered in soft and thick fur that matches there hair, there upper back and shoulders are covered in shorter and softer hair, they range from 6'-7'6". Arachne have an extra set shorter, 2 jointed, opposable, mandible legs that stick out just below where their humanoid hips and arachnid halves connect with there reproductive genitals located in between their mandible legs(they defecate and urinate from a hole close to there spinneret). they treat there mandible legs almost like humanoids treat their legs(they keep them in a curled up seated position while walking, will cross them when sitting down, and will extend them to the floor while talking to show they're interested in the conversation) and make special clothing to cover them and their private bits.(note: female wolves and leapers tend to remove the fur from their mandible legs and polish them smooth and shiny(polishing prevents fur regrowth for longer periods of time)).

Monstrous Nature
Your creature type is considered to be both humanoid and monstrosity. they're unable to ride mounts but are able to ride in vehicles such as boats. if a spell other than an attack spell targets you, you qualify as whichever is more beneficial to you.
Webspinner
an Arachne is able to throw a ball of web to ensnare a target within 30 feet, create a 10 foot square patch of difficult terrain within 15 feet, or create a 5x20 tall area that other creatures can climb up at half speed on a vertical surface (the number of charges is determined by subrace and 1 charge can be regained if they eat during a short rest). the throwing attack is 1d20 + Dex + proficiency. at level 7 the range increases by 10, and again at 14th and 17th levels. web health is 20 with an AC of 10. a strength check to break free of the web is a DC of 8 + con + prof.
when an Arachne makes camp they can create a bed of webbing 10-15 feet off the ground with at least 3 points of support (trees, rocks, etc.) which they can sleep on either the top or bottom side of. the bed takes as much time as a tent to put up. they need either to eat or use 1 web wielder charge to put it up. An Arachne is then able to connect strands of silk webbing to the bed and across the ground that are nearly undetectable, requiring a perception check to discover, that when disturbed will alert/awaken the Arachne as long as it is on the bed. the web and silk are permanent unless otherwise removed. the perception check has disadvantage at night unless done by another spider-like creature( Arachne, Drider, Giant spider, spider form Familiar, etc)in which case is a standard check(DC decided by skill check when placed).
an Arachne can also produce fine spider silk twice per long rest(independent of webspinner charges and the amount is determined by subrace) that can be used to make clothing, rope, and bandages or anything else that silk can be used for.

Posted Jun 16, 2021Some of the material doesn't show up in the character builder as useable, also everything is just a text overload instead of things being broken up into appropriate pieces
