Homebrew Arachne Species Details
Born of bone and woven in silk, the Arachne are a species of arachnid-humanoids that interweave the greatest strengths of humanity and Spider. They possess the various features of arachnids, showing a stark versatility that leads to a vibrant ecosystem of features and colours.
While generally all Arachne possess fang-bearing mandibles and/or stingers, many other features are unique and generally derived from the unique genetics of each family. Some possess full lower abdomens of Spiders, boasting many legs. Others may only possess additional limbs on the torso. Some possess multiple eyes, others do not. The given features of the Arachne are vast and diverse.
Arachne Traits
Arachne possess the ability to manipulate the world around them with the weaponry of sting and silk.Ability Score Increase
The Arachne naturally gain an Ability Score Increase. This increase can be +2 to one stat and +1 to another, or +1 to three separate stats.
Darkvision
The Arachne are able to view darkness as dim light and dim light as standard light within a range of 30ft.
Envenom
The Arachne can drive into an enemy with their venomous fangs or stingers.
By using a Bonus Action, the Arachne can make an attack against a creature within 5ft of them, using their Strength or Dexterity modifier, whichever they choose. This attack deals 1d6 Poison damage and forces the creature to make a Constitution Saving Throw or become Poisoned. The DC for this saving throw is equal to (8 + Constitution + Proficiency Bonus).
a creature Poisoned by this feature can reroll the Saving Throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the condition on a successful save.
Natural Webbing
The Arachne can cast the Web spell on command.
The spellcasting stat for this spell is Constitution. This Web spell still requires the same Action use and Concentration as normal.
The Arachne can use this feature a number of times per Long Rest equal to their proficiency bonus.
Spider Climb
The Arachne can walk along floors, walls and ceilings at their normal walk speed.

Posted Jan 27, 2025This is a prototype of sorts of a species that's being worked on. Including a gimmick to do with enhanced movement on the webs and restricting the Spider Climb feature while not on webbing.
