Homebrew Ailurus Species Details

Living in an exotic and isolated mountain range, the Ailurus \ae-lor-us\ are humanoids with an appearance similar to a red panda. Shaped by their gods in the mist of their homeland. The seclusion of their home allows them to be spectators to the outside world, where they see society for all its good and evil. They appear a bit smaller than humans, with primarily red fur covering their body. A mixture of white fur accent their face, while black fur covers their arms and legs. Other features include a ringed tail that strides behind them; as well as sharp claws on their hands and feet. Motivated by the heartbeat of civilization; Ailurus express an exorbitant curiosity into the multiple planes of existence. Ailurus find themselves the recordkeepers of history, and in some cases, the writers as well. 

Seclusion from the Mists

Ailurus originate between two large mountain ranges. A valley in the middle exists in the snow filled with a forest of large trees. They live in a sophisticated village system built between the trees. While knowledge of their existence is known to the world, it's rare that they entertain visitors. The cold mist that covers the valley often makes travel difficult; most passerby's choosing to circle the range instead of going straight through. Nevertheless, they are very accepting of visitors. Their society is one of self-preservation; preferring to create and maintain their own supplies.

Keepers of Lore, Masters of Concept

The Ailurus are observers of the planes and collectors of knowledge. Their society is built on the collection and trade of information about the world around them. It's common to find groups of Ailuruans heading out into the world to bring back knowledge for their massive library system housed throughout the forest. Along with their massive stores of knowledge, they also have a high affinity to arcane arts. Many Ailurus focus heavily on the art of creation. Ailururans often take a neutral stance in all debates as they by definition seclude themselves from outside conflicts.

Your base walking speed is 30 feet. Additionally, You have a climbing speed equal to your walking speed.

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.

Your thick fur acts as a form of protection. When you aren't wearing armor, your AC equals 13 + your Dexterity modifier. Additionally, you are naturally acclimate to cold temperatures.

Zen Stillness

Your natural focus allows you to keep focusing through stillness. If you choose not to move on your turn, you gain advantage on Constitution saving throws made to maintain concentration on a spell until the start of your next turn. If you already have advantage on concentration checks from another source, you instead double your proficiency bonus on Constitution checks made to maintain concentration until the start of your next turn.
