Homebrew Woven Species Details

Woven are a celestial people of otherworldly grace, living in the world but for a long time not part of it. They live in places of ethereal beauty, in the midst of ancient forests or in silvery spires glittering with faerie light, where soft music drifts through the air and gentle fragrances waft on the breeze. Woven love nature and magic, art and artistry, music and poetry, and the good things of the world.

Flexible Form

Woven are made of cloth that form a generally default to a humanoid shape, giving them the appearance of a shrouded individual.  Their height varies depending on their liking but they are restricted to how much fabric they are made up of.  They don't stop gaining more length to their fabric as they age so depending on that age they can range from 3-5 ft or 5-7 feet.  There are even some that grow to the point of appearing gargantuan in size.  The elders of their civilization grow long enough to take the form of cloaked dragons.

They may choose to become formless and let their cloth drift with the wind or be warn by a traveler.  Using this racial trait they may slip under door ways and through any cracks that would fit their cloth.

A Timeless Perspective

Woven can live well over 700 years, giving them a broad perspective on events that might trouble the shorter-lived races more deeply. They are more often amused than excited, and more likely to be curious than greedy. They tend to remain aloof and unfazed by petty happenstance. When pursuing a goal, however, whether adventuring on a mission or learning a new skill or art, woven can be focused and relentless. They are quick to make friends, slow to forget them, slow to make enemies, but even slower to forget them.

Like the branches of a young tree, woven are flexible in the face of danger. They trust in diplomacy, compromise and sometimes manipulation/deception to resolve differences before they escalate to violence. Though if ever called into action by the Seamstress, they move in a heartbeat.

Duragard

A celestial finish is applied on the surface of their fabric at birth and create an invisible protection which prevents liquid or stain to penetrate the fiber which makes them able to go underwater and resist harsh environments.

Seeking New Purpose

After their godess left them, the Woven sat in isolation for hundreds of thousands of years, unsure of what to do next. It was not until the first of their kind, Toile, left, letting the wind take him, that others followed his lead and moved on setting out to find new purpose for better or for worse.

Flames Catch

Unfortunately, a downside to being entirely made up of cloth is that if caught on fire Woven burn quickly.  Thankfully tailors can mend these wounds easily but none the less as a Woven you double the amount of fire damage you take.

Woven Traits

Your elf character has a variety of natural abilities, the result of thousands of years of elven refinement.

Age

Woven can live well over 700 years, giving them a broad perspective on events that might trouble the shorter-lived races more deeply. They are more often amused than excited, and more likely to be curious than greedy. They tend to remain aloof and unfazed by petty happenstance. Alignment

Most follow in their godess' footsteps choosing to be Lawful-neutral or Lawful-good but the Rag subrace of Woven are more often than not chaotic.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

The glowing eyes of a woven and their celestial heritage allow them to see better than some other races in the dark. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

In Tune With The Fabric

You have proficiency in the Perception skill.

Trance

Woven don’t need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep. During this trance a Woven's form goes limp until returning to full consciousness.

Patient and Adaptive (Languages)

You can speak, read, and write Woven... The next two languages you come in contact with you learn within a month.  Sometimes to help this process go quicker, a Woven will go into a trance at a local tavern hanging upon a rack or a wall. Laying dormant like this they are able to concentrate on learning the language and subtle nuances of the tavern's patrons.  They do this with temples and other places in the pursuit of knowledge. (Choose two other languages)
