Homebrew Bettan Species Details

Fierce Beauty, Bettan have powdered-textured skin and long fins of every color that trail behind them in the water like ribbons. As they float among the aquamarine waters, their fins move in the waves like a motley of shimmering ribbons, but they bear a fanged jaw and often hide weapons within their ribbons, as they are always battle ready. 

Gladiators and showmen, Being so essential to the Bettan upbringing, warrior training has developed beyond a skill and into an art among the Bettans. Every year a Bettan community will host a grand festival for the others in the area, usually in a rotation that revolves year to year. These aquariums attract eager young Bettan, as well as the occasional surface dweller, to compete in a one-on-one or group bouts of combat to earn respect, rewards, boons, or even the eye of a lover. In some areas of the world these bouts may even be to the death, promising great riches to the winners or serving to prevent war. 

I did not come up with this race and the author did not put their name down I just wanted my players to be able to access it in their apps.

Typically your strength score increases by 2, and your Charisma score increases by 1.

You can breathe air and water

Age

Bettans reach maturity at around age 8 and can live up to 70 yrs.

Bite

As an unarmed strike and natural weapon use your teeth if you hit with it you deal 1d6 + your strength modifier of piercing damage. 

Darkvision

You can see in a 60ft radius in dim/darklight

Ribbon of fighting folk

You have proficiency in persuasion and intimidation. 

Territorial

You can make an opportunity attack without using your reaction. Once you use this trait, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest.

Undaunted Warriors

 You have advantage on saving throws against being frightened, and proficiency with hand crossbows, nets, and Tridents.

You can speak read and write in common, Aquan, and Beta
