Homebrew Ak'chazar Tabaxi Species Details
Rakshasa Cambion or Rakshasa tiefling,
The basic traits and appearance are the same, a tiger humanoid, they may or may not have horns. Their hands will generally be round the right way. The difference between is whether or not a rakshasa is the biological parent or not. Ak'Chazar Rakshasa tend to be skinnier and more apt at magics than the common form, they are also black and white in colouration.
Rakshasa are no strangers of the flesh, but unlike most Demons, they don't require a mortal to make Cambions. Technically all Rakshasa start their existance as mortal creatures. Born from a Rakshasa and one of their many concubines, those they have tricked or bought into their service.
Unlike most Cambion these can exceed a single mortal life and become true fiends in there own right. It is imperative that one can spot, and eliminate it, before it passes 50yrs. Preferably prior to adolescence, when the fiendish corruption begins its work. Rakshasa Cambion who have been allowed to pass beyond the initial life stage of their metamorphosis have been reported to rise as undead. Although, I have not witnessed this and cannot vouch for its accuracy. Hold no quarter when it comes to these children, they may be harmless now, but they never stay that way.
Rakshasa Cambions are tricky, they're hard to spot and the younger they are the harder it is. If youre clearing out a Rakshasas nest and find a Tabaxi or tiefling with cat like traits, kill it. Most likely it is a cambion, they will have their hands around the normal way, so pass for Tabaxi without much concern. Rakshasa Cambions have a similarity with Tabaxi, both share a fascination for gems and shiny metals, but many still are concerned with amassing magical items and magical lore to give them a headstart later in life.
The presiding differences between them and both Tabaxi and Tieflings is that they possess an edge of greed and pride that creeps into their actions as its fiendish nature slowly grows. Beginning after adolescence, at an indeterminate interval Cambion will begin to register with a faintly fiendish taint, unlike their similarly formed counterparts. This corruption grows every year until the creature reaches 50yrs where its creature type fully changes to fiendish.
If the Cambion is allowed to survive those 50yrs, after its first natural death, they must spend a further 50 years bound in service to their Rakshasa parent. Only after that is complete do there hands flip round as they fully gain the powers of a Rakshasa. And become substantially harder to eliminate. Rakshasa rarely breed, typically choosing to do so only after one of its fellows has been successfully hunted and can be highly territorial to unrelated Rakshasa and Cambions that aren't theirs.
The one and only rule when dealing with Rakshasa Cambions is, Kill it. If you let it live, you will not live long enough to regret it.
