Homebrew Dracovyrn Species Details

Created by the god Corellon, the Dracovyrn were once proud elves of a prosperous kingdom, but their legacy was shattered when an Obsidian Greatwyrm and an undead legion descended upon their land. Their crops withered under the dragon's dark presence, and the dead outnumbered the living as famine set in. Desperation drove them to a horrific solution—one that would forever taint their souls. Weakened by poison-laced sacrifices, the Greatwyrm finally fell, and the survivors feasted upon its corpse, believing its ancient flesh would sustain them. But the dragon’s deathless curse seeped into their bones, reshaping them into something neither living nor dead. Their bodies hardened like obsidian, their eyes glowed with necrotic flame, and tattered dragon wings sprouted from their backs, remnants of the beast they had consumed. They had become more than elves—they had become Dracovyrn.

Cursed with immortality, the Dracovyrn wander the world as echoes of destruction and power, bound forever to the legacy of the fallen wyrm. They are both revered and feared; some see them as prophets of death, while others view them as living weapons of ruin. Though they no longer hunger, their spirits burn with an insatiable need for purpose, seeking to carve out meaning from their unnatural existence. Some embrace the path of dark warriors, deathly bards, or cursed kings, while others seek atonement for their people's sins, vowing to never let another land suffer their fate. Yet, no matter their chosen path, the shadow of the Obsidian Wyrm lingers within them, whispering of the power they could wield… if only they surrendered to it.
