Homebrew Chamaelid Species Details
Alson known as "Chameleonfolk" or "Invisible Lizardfolk", the Chamaelids are humanoid and sentient chameleons that live atop trees.
There is a debate among scholars as to how the "Chameleonfolk" came into being. Some researchers theorize that the Chamaelids evolved from regular chameleons over time. Other academics believe the "Inivisible Lizardfolk" were indeed simple chameleons, but were transformed due to the influece of magic. There are even some sages who claim that the Chamaelids are the offspring of a reptilian deity or some powerful entity of nature.
Due to their heritage, the Chamaelids share some traits with regular chameleons. They are natural climbers, have eyes that can move independently from one another, use their tongue to catch small prey and have the ability to camouflage themselves.
The Chamaelids are small and scaled, but tend to have differents shades to their hide depending on the environment from whence they hail. There are even some "Chameleonfolk" who have specifical appendages on their heads, such as small horns, grooves and frills.
Chamaelids tend to have an easier time among the wilderness, but it is no unheard of some "Chameleonfolk" living in the midst of civilization and interacting with other species across the multiverse.
