Homebrew Akitonian Species Details
The dominant race of the planet Akiton, Akitonians and humans are believed to be closely related in many ways. An adaptive race, the Akitonians have learned to not only survive but thrive in the harsh environment of the red planet, with many becoming travelling merchants and adventurers, and those who don’t are either building sprawling cities or attempting to master machinery and magic.
Physical Description: Akitonians are remarkably similar physically to humans, averaging about the same height and weight with the major difference being the stark red skin of the Akitonians. However, Akitonian eye and hair color are not nearly as varied as they are in humans with the vast majority of Akitonians either possessing stark white or black hair with rarely any variation, meanwhile Akitonian eyes are almost always black. With the small variation in eye and hair color many Akitonians have taken to adopting outlandish hairstyles, piercings, and tattoos to express their individualism.
Society: Akitonian society is almost as varied as human society on Golarion. While many Akitonians are content to live amongst their families in cities, towns, or villages long since established and held, even more amongst them strike out in search of adventure and excitement. Akitonians are a hardy race, having to constantly defend territory from Shobhad attacks, dust storms, and extremely dangerous giant desert worms, as such they have established several small communities and settlements that dot the arid landscape or the red planet.
Relations: Akitonians are a curious and adventurous race, establishing trade and relations with all of the sentient races of Akiton, but they maintain particularly good relations with the wandering Ysoki ratmen who highly value the natural inclination toward machinery and engineering that the Akitonians possess.
Alignment and Religion: While there are many Akitonians that make a name for themselves by travelling and adventuring, countless others are content to live in settlements long since established or to embark outwards to establish new outposts. As a result, many Akitonians are of a neutral or lawful alignment, and those Akitonians that are of a chaotic nature almost invariably end up leaving what they perceive as the dull life of the city or village. Many Akitonians are godless, that is to say they acknowledge that there may very well be gods or deities, but that they choose to trust in the strength of their backs and the cunning of their minds over divine protection and influence, on the other hand, those Akitonians who do worship are fervent in their devotion frequently venerating their deity or espousing scripture, those Akitonians who worship make sure to include several rituals to their deities during the course of their day, as the common belief is that if you fail to frequently worship and venerate your deity that they will lose interest in you and may no longer extend you their divine aid.
Adventurers: For most Akitonians the thought of leaving home to seek adventure and excitement in the barren desolation of the red planet is far from comforting, their homes and communities often being all that an Akitonian knows of his world. Restless Akitonians or simply those who have been banished often embark out on journeys of enlightenment or redemption, seeking to find new meaning in their lives.
Male Names: Arath, Calimdar, Huevor, Javulian, Peradna, Nurenor, Wadleth
