Homebrew Refractal Dragonborn Species Details

Refractal Dragonborn are a type of dragonborn that first came into existence around the same time as Refractal dragons. They are known for deception and speedy escapes, and often set ambushes for their enemies. However, one noticeable feature is their lack of breath weapon. The origin of this species, the Refractal dragons, lacked a sufficient breath weapon, relying on the sheer strength of surprise.

Refractal Dragonborn Traits

Your draconic heritage manifests in a variety of traits you share with other refractal dragonborn.

Reflective

While 20 ft. or further away from you, attack rolls have disadvantage. In addition, you gain proficiency in Stealth, and you have resistance to Radiant damage.

Duplicity

You can project a copy of yourself, making the illusion that you are somewhere you are not. You can cast the spell Mirror Image once with this trait and regain the ability to do so after finishing a long rest.

Surprise Attack

If you hit a creature with an attack roll, the creature takes an extra 2d6 damage if it hasn’t taken a turn yet in the current combat.

Age

Young dragonborn grow quickly. They walk hours after hatching, attain the size and development of a 10-year-old human child by the age of 3, and reach adulthood by 15. They live to be around 80.

Size

Dragonborn are taller and heavier than humans, standing well over 6 feet tall and averaging almost 250 pounds. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Draconic. Draconic is thought to be one of the oldest languages and is often used in the study of magic. The language sounds harsh to most other creatures and includes numerous hard consonants and sibilants.
